Whats the hot button issue in wrestling right now? Obviously its the release of A.W. or Abraham Washington. The owner and operator of All World Promotions was recently unceremoniously released from his position within the WWE for his "Joke" about the seemingly ancient Kobe Bryant sexual assault case from 2003.
For those who don't know, and quite frankly if your reading this I don't see how you couldn't know what he said. It was, "Titus O'Neil is like Kobe Bryant at a hotel in Colorado ... he's unstoppable." Not very funny but it was offensive content and out of place on a p.g. rated television show.
The WWE's record of racism and sexism is well documented and there are even recent examples of hypocrisy. I will assume that anyone reading this is well versed in this as CageSideSeats coverage has been quite through. What I have noticed, and this may be my error, but no one seems to be mentioning Abraham Washington's remarks towards Rosa Mendez just a few weeks prior when he referred to the Latino woman as "Taco Bell."
To me this is not only worse but much more blatant of an offense. I did laugh at this and I wasn't offended but I'm not Latino. If he was going to be released it should have been then. By not taking action against it, the WWE gave that kind of humor presidence and opened the gates for A.W. to continue by letting him keep his microphone.
For me, this comes as a blow to the Prime Time Players as A.W. was there mouth piece and gave them an air of legitimacy. Enough form me, this is supposed to be a conversation. What do you think of the situation, how it was handled, and if you even liked the A.W. character. Lets flesh this situation out see where each other stand.
