Wrestler Wrankings: 2012-2013 Season, Week 14

Wrankingslogo_medium

Welcome to Wrestler Wrankings; the refuge for intelligent wrestling fans in an otherwise chaotic world.

The week that was in wrestling can hardly be considered eventful when only two points were awarded to competitors in the Top 10 and a mere fourteen Wrankings points were earned, in total.

Since the amount of actual wrestling that took place this week can only be measured with an electron microscope, let's examine three athletes that are deadlocked in the lower reaches of our standings and what their future Wrankings prospects might be:

Tyson Kidd, 4 points - After not registering a point or even appearing on RAW or Smackdown the entire season, Kidd has suddenly roared into relevancy this fortnight with four points and a spot in the Money in the Bank match. While nowhere near a favorite, Kidd's athletic grappling style is well suited for a ladder match, so he has at least some chance at a victory. Bolstering his odds is his shocking flash roll up victory against Lord Tensai. This kind of resourcefulness will serve him well in the coming weeks. Future Wrankings prospects: BRIGHT

R-Truth, 4 points - R-Truth may have the same number of points as Kidd, but his were collected exclusively in April and May. Furthermore, he has rarely even appeared in Wrankings eligible matches. For a guy who was main eventing major shows a year ago, it seems all that momentum has dried up. Future Wrankings prospects: DIRE

Zack Ryder, 4 points - Unlike Truth, Ryder had accumulated all four of his points recently. In addition to winning the big 20 man rumble this week, he also picked up a singles victory (albeit, over Heath Slater) on the June 22nd episode of Smackdown. While not an overwhelming resume, there is a measure of momentum here. Most importantly, Ryder earned the post of General Manager next week's Smackdown. If he's smart, he can, and should, book himself in the type of matches (yes, he should fight multiple times) that he can find success in. Executed correctly, he might find himself with 4-6 points next week and maybe even a shot at reclaiming the United States Championship. Future Wrankings prospects: Woo Woo Woo
