Cena! Punk! Rematch! Money in the Bank Contract! WWE Championship!
Oh, John Cena. How we've missed you so. It seems like forever ago since you held the WWE Championship. What have you been doing with your time? Wallowing in obscurity, I bet. Lost in the shuffle of the WWE roster, the comings and goings of younger talent eclipsing your once bright star. ‘Tis a shame what has happened to you.
But now things have changed, John Cena!
You now hold the Money in the Bank briefcase. Twice the victim of the infamous cash-ins, it is now your turn to challenge the title holder anytime you want. Do you go the traditional route, taking your opportunity when your opponent is your weakness? Or perhaps you mirror Rob Van Dam's path, calling your shot and letting the world know exactly when and where the match will happen. The WWE Universe tingles in anticipation.
Yes, John Cena. No longer do you have to be overshadowed by the WWE Championship or rely on The Rock and Brock Lesnar's return to push you to the top of the card. You are the controller of your own destiny. You can revenge your win against CM Punk, who twice bested you in the ring. It will be a glories return to superstardom, John Cena, and one you rightly deserve.
I hope you're fall from the top has humbled you, and you will treat the WWE Championship with the respect that we all know it deserves. It deserves to be at the top of the card, and now, with the Money in the Bank briefcase in hand, you have regained that honor as well.
/rewatches WrestleMania 28's main event and all but that last five minutes of Extreme Rules, cries a little bit.
The rest of the show after the jump.
Daniel! AJ! What's Next?!
Perhaps the biggest question arising from Money in the Bank is what will come next for Daniel Bryan and AJ. Following an incredible match with CM Punk, Bryan has lost cleanly to the defending champion in three straight Pay-Per-Views (PPV's). Now that John Cena is the holder of the Money in the Bank briefcase, one has to assume Punk is moving on.
So where does that leave Bryan? I honestly have no idea. What other faces are left on the card? Sheamus is tied up with the World Heavyweight Championship. Feuding with Christian for the Intercontinental title seems like a huge drop off. There's always a chance that he could face a returning Orton, but reports seem to indicate that "The Viper" will be sparring against Chris Jericho.
If I had to make a wild guess? The Miz, fresh of his surprise entry into last nights Money in the Bank match, finds a way to get involved with his former protégé.
As for the lovely AJ, I truly hope she stays with Bryan. If AJ follows Punk, then she would be forced to get involved with Cena. And I think we all remember what happened last time (cough hoeski cough). Bryan and AJ work extremely well together, and there is still a story to finish between the two of them. Who would have thought that AJ would be the one saving Daniel Bryan from falling down that card?
Ziggler! Sheamus! Del Rio! Money in the Bank Contract, part 2! World Heavyweight Championship!
On the other end of the "John Cena won in the main event of a PPV? Of course he did" spectrum is "Dolph Ziggler sold like a goddamn champ and emerged victorious? Well I only saw half of that happening." Ziggler has already faced Sheamus a few times for the World Heavyweight Championship, but now with the Money in the Bank briefcase in hand eventual victory is all but assured. It now becomes a waiting game of exactly when and where the cash in will occur.
Honestly, I'm a sucker for a failed cash-in spot. There is nothing quite like that anticipation, that excitement in the audience, leaning forward in your chair, wondering if this is the moment, only to have the balloon popped. I loved it when it happened to Daniel Bryan and Alberto Del Rio last year, and I loved it when it happened to Ziggler last night. Yeah, he kinda looked like a dork.
But that moment when he does win the title will be even sweeter.
Hopefully this has helped get you prepared for the nights activities.
