World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) released a promo for its annual SummerSlam event, set to take place on Sun., Aug. 19, 2012, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, and I couldn't help but notice one glaringly obvious thing.
The tone of the video being in such stark contrast to the show's headlining act.
Although it hasn't been made official just yet, Brock Lesnar will be returning to the ring to take on Triple H in a blockbuster match that the company expects to do gangbusters at the box office.
This promo is just filler, really, a placeholder used to promote the event without the added benefit of being able to use the matches currently planned for the show. And that's certainly understandable but the very fact that Brock Lesnar, of all people, has his name attached to a show with a promo like this struck me kind of funny.
I mean, just look at the event poster. Does that look like a guy who was "born to be a star?"
