Finally, The Rock will come back to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE)... for one night, at least.
Oh yes indeedy, "The Great One" told the world on Twitter last night (July 9, 2012) that he would be making his big return to WWE television on the historic 1,000th episode of Monday Night Raw on July 23 in St. Louis, Missouri.
"RAW's 1000th episode," he tweeted. "The People's Champ returns. As promised, my goal: THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP. #RELENTLESS."
That confirms yet another major star coming back that night, on top of the already announced returns of Shawn Michaels (with Triple H as D-Generation X) and Brock Lesnar, who will answer Triple H's challenge for a match at SummerSlam.
But where will Rock fit in?
Money in the Bank will have come and gone by then and either John Cena, Chris Jericho, Kane or Big Show will be holding the briefcase guaranteeing them a shot at the WWE championship, which will be held by whomever wins the CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan match.
Again I ask -- where will Rock fit in?
Perhaps we'll simply get an appearance that will see his music hit to a big pop, a prolonged promo in which he doesn't say much of anything, and a reaffirmation of the promise he made previously. That promise being, of course, that he'll win the WWE championship at some point or another before he retires from the game for good.
But who knows, maybe he'll announce his next return date, perhaps as an entrant in the Royal Rumble next year. Or maybe he'll even challenge the Money in the Bank contract winner to a match at SummerSlam or Survivor Series. I don't know.
Help me out, Cagesiders. What's going to happen when Rock returns at Raw 1,000?
