Orton might not be back for a while.

PWInsider is reporting (GRAINS UPON GRAINS OF SALT) that Orton met with WWE officials late last week and the meeting may not have gone smoothly. Some in WWE are pushing for him to be released. Keep in mind he signed a 10 year contract a couple years ago, and is (inexplicably to some) one of the most over performers in the company.

Word is, WWE may wait to return him to television after his suspension is over. How long they wait may depend on how well the 3 hour Raw ratings start doing.

Either way, he's on suspension number 2 and one more means automatic termination. That hypothetical scenario about how big of an "impact" a WWE maineventer could make outside of WWE may be tested sooner than we might have thought.

Orton has been with the company for 10 years now. Crazy, no? That's longer than Steve Austin (from signing to retirement), and even as long as Hulk Hogan (from Hulkamania to leaving for WCW). Doesn't feel like it does it?
