Look out, folks, it's another countdown list.
This time World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has gone seasonal and busted out a list of the top 10 King of the Ring winners. When the event aired as a pay-per-view (PPV) between 1993-2002, it did so during the month of June.
It was brought back a few times after discontinuing as a standalone event simply to get someone over with a new gimmick, most notably for Booker T, who transformed into the most annoying heel in wrestling history with his King Bookah schtick. Previous winners were usually mid-card wrestlers who were getting ready for a push into the main event.
It's interesting that WWE would rank only the top 10, considering there were only ever 18 winners in the tournament's history. Why not just go the full nine and get even more clicks? You know, since that's what these posts are designed for in the first place.
Either way, we're marks for countdown lists, as you well know by now, and look forward to your thoughts on this latest edition.
Let's get to it.
10. Mable (1995)
9. Kurt Angle (2000)
8. Edge (2001)
7. Brock Lesnar (2002)
6. Harley Race (1986)
5. Bret Hart (1991, 1993)
4. Triple H (1997)
3. Booker T (2006)
2. Randy Savage (1987)
1. Stone Cold Steve Austin (1996)
Thoughts on the list?
