On the one hand, it's nice that Austin Aries is being so prominently featured for the Destination X pay-per-view (PPV) event scheduled for July 8, 2012, in Orlando. After all, what more can a pro wrestler ask for than to have an entire show essentially be centered around them?

But on the other hand, he's now given up his X Division championship in favor of taking on TNA Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode in a match he is all but guaranteed to lose. If that means he ends up tucking tail back to the X Division, this will all feel like one big waste of time.

But if TNA can find a way to elevate him even further, despite a loss, this will have all been worth it. There are only so many chances to make legitimate stars in pro wrestling. Aries is a guy who has all the talent to get there, he just needs the proper assistance.
