Exit light ... enter night ... take their hand ... they're off to ... Los Angeles?
Indeed, according to a report from the Wrestling Observer, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is "working on a deal to get Metallica in for SummerSlam." As the Observer correctly points out, Brock Lesnar -- who is expected to headline the show in a match against Triple H -- used Metallica's biggest hit, Enter Sandman, as his entrance music during his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) run.
That's not to say they would do that for him here, live and in person. Actually, the Observer reports it's more likely the rock gods would play Triple H into the arena. He's a big rock enthusiast and noted fan of the band's work, so I suppose it makes sense.
But it would be ultra trollish for WWE to have Metallica actually show up to an event to play Lesnar's entrance music after stealing him away from Dana White and the UFC. Even better is the fact that James Hetfield, the band's lead singer, recently attended a UFC event and was shown on camera.
And if you're thinking that all sounds silly and petty, you're right. But remember who we're dealing with here -- Vince McMahon.
Either way, this would be a huge upgrade from the performer they got to play at least year's show, Cee Lo Green. How would you Cagesiders feel about one of the biggest rock bands of all time playing at the biggest pro wrestling show of the summer?
