My colleague Sergio Hernandez wasn't watching the latest episode of NXT closely enough it would seem.
Sergio (we love you, promise) chided World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) for dragging its feet and mindlessly meandering on with season five of NXT, which had run for 67 consecutive weeks with no end in sight. Except the end was in sight and finally, it's all over.
It started with a short but sweet advertisement on the company's website:
On the final episode before the start of the explosive, all-new WWE NXT, Kaitlyn battles the always dangerous Natalya, and The Usos square off against Johnny Curtis & Michael McGillicutty. Watch the brand-new episode now on WWE.com!
The actual episode -- which you can watch by clicking here -- featured promos airing footage from the first set of tapings that took place at Full Sail University last month. They also showcased small vignettes featuring the likes of Richie Steamboat.
Unfortunately, it's still unclear how WWE will distribute the new NXT. Will it continue as an Internet only show? Is it headed for the WWE Network whenever that manages to get off the ground?
Stay tuned for the answer to that. In the meantime, a round of applause for 67 straight weeks of NXT season five. Or a simple nod of the head.
Yeah, that'll do.
