Manny Pacquiao was defeated by Timothy Bradley via split decision last night (Sat., June 9, 2012) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. That's what the records will show, even if nearly every human being in the free world (save for those two judges who scored it for Bradley) thinks otherwise.
The decision was so widely reviled by fans on Twitter that Vince McMahon was a trending topic for a while. And no, it wasn't because he's returning to Raw this coming Monday night.
Resident pipe bomb specialist and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Champion CM Punk weighed in on the controversial decision via his Twitter and he was quick to stir up trouble:
"A win is a win! #judges ... This is what you get for making Jesus wait so you can watch a basketball game. ... I'd love to hear Mannys wife right about now. ... You mad? Did Manny thank god for the bad judging? ... To those telling me that wrestling is fixed: so is boxing."
Zing!
For what it's worth, Punk isn't doing much more than trolling his followers here but he's got a strong base to start from. No, boxing isn't dead, but it was dealt a major blow last night by two judges who agreed with each other but disagreed with such a large audience, it's impossible to ignore the potential ramifications.
One can't help but wonder what Triple H's good friend Floyd Mayweather thinks about all this.
