Do you smell what The Rock is cooking?
Today it's a birthday cake. Well, The Rock isn't cooking it but whoever is handling catering on the set of Pain and Gain is. Maybe Marky Mark?
That's right, today is "The Great One's" birthday. And it's just not any birthday, it's the big four-oh. And as evidenced by recent photos, time really has caught up with Ol' Man Johnson.
Who would have thought 40 years ago in a small town in California -- also the birthplace of Shawn Stasiak and Kristi Yamaguchi -- the most electrifying man in sports entertainment would be born?
After playing football for the University of Miami and a failed bid in the Canadian Football League, he joined the ranks of WWE in 1996 as ultra babyface blue chipper Rocky Maivia.
People hated him. Like, REALLY hated him. "Die, Rocky, Die" chants weren't uncommon.
He eventually turned rulebreaker, joined the Nation of Domination and began referring to himself as The Rock. The rest is wrestling history.
Since then, he's had epic feuds and matches with the likes of Mick Foley, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan and more recently John Cena.
On top of his wrestling accomplishments -- nine world titles amongst other belts -- and being a huge action movie star, Dwayne Johnson is also a New York Times bestselling author.
Simply put, The Rock is better than just about everyone at everything.
So to celebrate, a highlight reel of some of his funniest promo moments is after the jump. Happy birthday, big guy!
