This man made the list. And he's probably a lot higher than you would have thought. Photo via WWE.com.
Another countdown style list? Oh yes indeedy.
This time WWE.com has decided to click bait its readers (and make no mistake, they've become B/R like in doing so) with a list counting down the top 25 Intercontinental champions of all time.
When taken seriously (if that's possible in this industry), it's a difficult endeavor to come up with a respectable list. The Intercontinental title has held various meanings throughout its existence, making it hard to quantify the difference between say, Cody Rhodes now and Triple H in the late 90s.
Superstars like Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels would tell you the Intercontinental belt was "the workhorse" title when they were carrying it around, which means they were counted on to have great matches while the main event was populated with big lugs hoisting the WWE championship around and posing for 10 minutes.
At times, that was a fair characterization. But there's more to it than that, of course; far too much to delve into here.
Instead, let's take a look at WWE.com's list of the top 25 Intercontinental champions of all time and feel free to let us know what you think about it in the comments section below. Check it out after the jump.
