Under the Radar: The latest news from the independent wrestling scene

via cdn3.sbnation.com

Huge weekend in indie wrestling coming up, Cagesiders.

No fewer than seven shows between today and tomorrow from heavy hitters like Ring of Honor (ROH) and Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) to smaller promotions like Beyond Wrestling and Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIWrestling).

And of course, Under the Radar has all the sweet, juicy info you need to keep track of it all.

Don't like what you see on Raw or Impact? Think that's all wrestling has to offer?

Think again, bucko.

Check out the goods after the jump.

Ring of Honor

Tomorrow is the big day! Border Wars will be live on internet pay-per-view (iPPV) tomorrow beginning at 7:30 ET. You can order the show here and we will, of course, be providing live play by play action of the show. So crack open a beer or soda and join Cageside tomorrow night for some rasslin' action.

The card is as follows:

World Championship match: Davey Richards vs. Kevin Steen
World TV match: Roderick Strong (c) w/ Truth Martini vs. Fit Finlay
World Tag Team Fight Without Honor match: Jay & Mark Briscoe (c) vs. Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin)
Lance Storm vs. Mike Bennett w/ Brutal Bob
Eddie Edwards vs. Rhino w/ Truth Martini
Michael Elgin vs Adam Cole
Jay Lethal vs. Tommaso Ciampa w/ The Embassy Ltd. (ROBERT EVANS AND YIM~!)
The All Night Express (Kenny King and Rhett Titus) and TJ Perkins vs. The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson) and Mike Mondo

The next time you'll be able to catch ROH on iPPV is in June for their Best in the World 2012 show from Manhattan, NY which will be followed by September's Death Before Dishonor X event, coming out of Chicago, IL.

CHIKARA

Jose and two Franks?

This is who Mike Quackenbush claims The Swarm are. Three Wrestle Factory dropouts who couldn't cut the mustard and are now taking their anger out on the promotion they were too weak to make it into.

Is "Lightning" right?

More matches have been added to both nights of CHIKARA's 10th anniversary spectacular. The first night, Aniversario: A Horse of Another Color, will feature Mixed Martial Archie (YES~!) taking on Darkness Crabtree in an MMA exhibition bout and a topsy turvy eight man tag team match where alliances must be temporarily broken. The team of Grand Champion Eddie Kingston, Scott Parker, Saturyne and Soldier Ant take on their friends and partners in Jigsaw, Shane Matthews, Sara Del Rey and Green Ant.

The second night, Aniversario: The Ogg and I, has added a few more matches including a 12-man tag match with The Spectral Envoy, The Swarm and two other three-man teams to be named later. The Bravados take on Sachiko and Chisako from SENDAI Girls' Pro Wrestling and Los Ice Creams collide with Tim Donst and Jakob Hammermeier.

Check out the latest Event Center:

This, of course, all leads to June 2's iPPV extravaganza, Chikarasaurus Rex: How to Hatch a Dinosaur. So far, the card for the huge show looks like this:

Campeonatos de Parejas match: F.I.S.T. (c) (Johnny Gargano and Chuck Taylor) vs. The Young Bucks
Hallowicked vs. Tim Donst
Sara Del Rey and Saturyne vs. The Batiri (Obariyon, Kodama and Kobald)
UltraMantis Black vs. Ophidian

In addition to these matches, a ladder match between former stablemates Icarus and Gran Akuma might go down at The Trocadero.

Check out Report 2 with the lovely Veda Scott for more information on that match and the others:

I never thought I'd see anything worse that Icarus' back piece but here I am, staring at his mustache.

Beyond Wrestling

Northeastern indie darlings Beyond Wrestling are back with another show, Burst the Bubble. Coming out of Bridgewater, MA, they look to continue their streak of excellent, unique shows which have won them the favor of many fans including my Cageside colleague Thomas Holzerman. Check out a handful of matches here, here, here and here from their Tournament of Tomorrow and also TH's review of their Crises Precipitate event.

Absolute Intense Wrestling

AIWrestling presents its two day JT Lightning Invitational Tournament tonight and tomorrow, paying tribute to the wrestler/promoter who passed away last year from cancer.

A lot of wrestlers will be convening in Cleveland, OH -- some you may know, some you may not and some you soon will -- to pay tribute to Lightning.

Click here for a full line-up of the show. Being the Anarchy Championship Wrestling mark that I am, I'm looking forward to watching ACH and Davey Vega once the DVD comes out. If I were to get ACH and Willie Mack in night two, FORGET ABOUT IT!

Resistance Pro Wrestling

Billy Corgan-backed RPW returns for its fifth show tomorrow night which is headlined by Heavyweight Champion Harry Smith taking on Rhino inside a steel cage with Raven acting as the special guest referee. This feud has been going on since February and both men are hoping to end it tomorrow in Chicago. Also, Vader will be in attendance as will Shelly Martinez and her invaluable... assets.

More information on the show is available here.

Whew. You catch all that?
