Welp, here come the stories.
Former heavyweight champion, both in pro wrestling and MMA, Brock Lesnar has made his big return to WWE this past Monday night (April 2, 2012) on Raw and that means it's time to dust off the history books for a look back at how things were when he was last with the company.
Lesnar's rise and fall came during the course of two short but successful years. After he was called up to the main roster in 2002, he was quickly given the title with a win over The Rock at SummerSlam and he never looked back. But the rigors of life on the road and a brutal travel schedule led the big man to lose interest in the business.
Sure, he was making good money, but was it worth it?
Ultimately, the answer was no. That and he apparently wasn't getting along well with some of his fellow superstars. According to a recent report from PWTorch.com, that includes the man he delivered an F-5 to upon his return, John Cena.
The report cites sources close to the situation as saying Lesnar hated Cena when they worked together in 2003. They worked together at Backlash that year and Lesnar may have deliberately tried to make Cena look bad.
It's no big surprise to see reports such as these start to see the light of day. Mostly because there seems to be a deep divide between the locker room today and the big stars of yesteryear. Other reports coming out say Lesnar arrived at Raw mere minutes before he came through the curtain. PW Insider brings word that morale backstage is about like you would expect. The Rock came back and was shot up the card and given the main event spot at WrestleMania 28 while hardly ever showing up to work. Now a similar scenario is about to play itself out with Lesnar, though he's reportedly contracted for far more dates than "The Great One" was.
Either way, expect more and more to hear about Lesnar's murky past as he navigates WWE's waters in 2012. He may find there are less sharks than in 2003 but the attitude seems to have largely remained the same.
