Word came out today from Universal Championship Wrestling's (UCW) official Twitter account Marcus Alexander Bagwell -- better known as Buff Bagwell -- was involved in a serious automobile accident which put him in intensive care.
Details are scarce and the only information available is what UCW tweeted earlier today.
The following tweet was sent early this (April 24) afternoon:
Former WCW colleague Scott Norton tweeted the following several hours ago:
Update on Marcus. He's going to be ok but keep him in your prayers for fast recovery
Bagwell came into prominence in World Championship Wrestling (WCW), winning the tag team straps several times with the likes of 2 Cold Scorpio, The Patriot and Shane Douglas among others. He started off a fan favorite before changing his moniker from his birth name to Buff and turning rulebreaker. He finished his career with WCW in a tag team with Lex Luger dubbed Totally Buff before the company was sold.
Except for a few appearances in TNA, Bagwell has kept himself busy on the independent scene since being released by WWE in 2001. He was one of the few WCW talents to accept a buy-out of his contract rather than sit it out and debuted on July 2.
His tenure with Vince McMahon's company would be short-lived as a week later, he was released from his contract due to issues with his attitude.
Since then, he's appeared here and there while also holding the world title of the aforementioned UCW promotion.
We here at Cageside Seats would like to wish Bagwell a speedy recovery.
