Wrestler Wrankings: 2012-2013 Season, Week 3

Wrankingslogo_medium

Welcome to the latest edition of Wrestler Wrankings, the weekly sports column where we score the purest form of competition yet devised by man: professional wrestling.

The talk of WWE in the weeks following WrestleMania 28 has centered around the return of Brock Lesnar and his quarrel with John Cena. That's unfortunate because the true story has been CM Punk defending his WWE Championship three weeks in a row against "The World's Strongest Man." With Mark Henry scoring multiple recent wins over the likes of Randy Orton and others, he is clearly a force to be reckoned with and that form showed once again as he inducted Punk into the Hall of Pain each of the past two weeks.

Punk emerged victorious this time, but both men are the beneficiaries of nine bonus points for these three successive title fights. That puts them head and shoulders above the rest of the roster, for the time being. It will take more than tough talk from Brock Lesnar to make up those points.

Our formula and this week's Wrankings, after the jump...

OFFICIAL WRESTLER WRANKINGS FORMULA

ANY WIN = 2 POINTS

US OR INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE BOUT = 1 POINT

WWE OR WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE BOUT = 3 POINTS

NON "BIG 4" PPV = x1.5 BONUS

SUMMERSLAM, SURVIVOR SERIES, ROYAL RUMBLE = x2 BONUS

WRESTLEMANIA = x3 BONUS

The wrestling season concludes with WrestleMania 29, at which time the competitor with the most points wins the Wrankings championship. If you'd like a more thorough explanation of the Wrankings, please read last week's column or the week before. You'll notice that, due to last week's poll, the PPV bonuses have been set and that's what well use from now on. Thanks to all who voted.
