Well last night happened, didn't it? A short Precap this week, so lets get right to it.
Cena! Rock! Loser! Sadness! Once in a Lifetime!
I'm getting pretty good at this whole blogging about pro wrestling thing, aren't I? While I don't know how far the WWE will take this story, I think they made the right decision last night (Sun., April 1, 2012) at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida. People who bought WrestleMania 28 just to see The Rock make his return needed to see him win. They don't know John Cena, and they don't care. Everyone else would be staying no matter what happened. I tried making this point last night on the Cageside Live podcast but it is something that should be repeated: This is the right thing to do. While we can all point at Nexus and Kane and say they will screw it up, that does not mean we should be afraid of them taking the right steps.
Punk! Jericho! Best in the World! Tap Out! WWE Championship!
For as right as I was about Cena and Rocky, I continue my losing streak with Chris Jericho and CM Punk. When everyone thought Punk was going to lose and get the belt back at Extreme Rules in Chicago, they go ahead and let him retain. I don't get this at all, but these two men have consistently shown themselves to be much smarter than I. So I'm just going to guess the most random things, because I would have a better chance of getting something right that way. How about Chris Jericho forms a team with The Miz and they spend the next month harassing Punk until he gets a rematch? Because why the hell not.
The rest of the show after the jump.
Eve! Ryder! Low Blow! This Damn Hoeski Ain't Nuthin' to Mess With!
Despite being put in a match where Maria Menounos was the third best wrestler (Seriously, Cena should take some selling lessons from her), Eve Torres made damn sure to get her WrestleMania moment. Planting a foot right in Zack Ryder's broskis was the best thing she could have done. She hitched her wagon to Ryder because he was on the way up. Now that he is a loser, it's time for Eve to dump the dead weight. Who can she bless with her companionship now? May I offer Cody Rhodes, perhaps? They both have some good heat, and he is a man who is moving up in the card. Wherever she ends up, though, I am sure to enjoy it.
Johnny Ace! Bow To the One True GM!
Now that John Laurinaitis has taken control of both Raw and SmackDown, I'm not sure exactly how things will change. His interaction with Punk before the WWE championship match shows that perhaps that animosity will continue in the future. But what else? As a heel General Manager, he will surely show favoritism toward the bad guys. Will Drew McIntyre be getting a United States title shot? Who will be taking aim at Big Show? Does Daniel Bryan receive his rematch with most favorable conditions? Or does Teddy Long simply pull a Cena and refuse to leave? Only time will tell, my friends.
SmackDown! On Raw!
Randy Orton was defeated by Kane. This is a fact. No jokes, no random references, no personal opinions, no nothing. Just going to tell it like it is. Randy Orton was the world heavyweight champion, lost cleanly to Mark Henry, and has not been the same since. Remember when we thought he was going to win the Royal Rumble? And now he is losing to Kane. At WrestleMania, no less. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark (okay, one random reference).
SmackDown! On Raw! Part 2!
In the interest of fairness, I will write this segment in 18 words or less (not counting this, because it's the entrance).
- Have Faith. Daniel Bryan will recover. He's too good. Short match equals WTF moment. Makes it stand out.
They could have had a 10 minute match, AJ interfere somehow, and Sheamus walks away as the champion. But it would have been completely forgettable. Now it's stuck in your head. Maybe they got a little too cute with it, but it worked.
Hopefully this has helped get you prepared for the nights activities.
