"The Immortal" Hulk Hogan managed to weasel his way onto an NHL broadcast with the above video promo he cut for the Philadelphia Flyers, which aired during Game 3 of the Flyers best of seven playoff series against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
As the story goes, Philadelphia player Scott Hartnell confronted a Hogan impersonator at a game in Pittsburgh, so when the series shifted to Philly, the organization shelled out the t-shirt you see Hogan wearing in the video. Then in Game 3 just last night (April 15), the real "Hulkster" showed up on the big screen at the arena. Here's how the Wrestling Observer described it:
Late in the third period of game three in the playoffs between the Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins, Hogan appeared on tape on the video screen, wearing the T-shirt. He told the Flyers fans to say your prayers and eat your vitamins, and then ripped off the shirt and did the catch phrase about Flyersmania running wild on you. They then played "Real American" in the arena. The crowd went nuts for the spot. Announcer Mike Emrick acknowledged the promo and the music on the air.
The Flyers would go on to defeat the Penguins in yesterday's game by scoring a whopping eight goals to just four from Pittsburgh. In related news, Hogan is now reportedly trying to take credit for no less than five of those goals. Philadelphia now holds a 3-0 series lead.
FlyersMania is running wild, brother!
