This Sunday (April 15), TNA presents what is widely accepted as their second biggest show behind Bound for Glory when Lockdown goes down from the promotion's old stomping grounds of Nashville, TN.
Headlining the pay-per-view (PPV) is a grudge match between two former friends which has been months in the making. The TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode went through 11 other men and 16 matches to earn a shot at the title, then held by Kurt Angle.
He came up short against the Olympian at last year's Bound for Glory and was denied a rematch due to a contract snafu. The next shot went, instead, to Roode's Beer Money partner James Storm. "Cowboy" capitalized on the opportunity and defeated Angle in quick fashion, earning himself the title.
Friends being friends, Storm took on Roode in a title match which should have been two old friends, going one on one, to see who was the better man. Instead, Roode, obsessed with winning the belt, slammed a beer bottle over Storm's head, effectively ending "Cowboy's' title reign, their tag team partnership and their friendship. That was nearly half a year ago.
This Sunday, they finally meet inside the unforgiven steel that is TNA's Lockdown cage.
Beyond the main event, the card presents a couple more interesting match-ups.
Here's the lineup for Sunday's show.
TNA World Heavyweight title match: Bobby Roode (c) vs. James Storm
Lethal Lockdown: Team Eric Bischoff vs. Team Garett Bischoff
Jeff Hardy vs. Kurt Angle
TNA Tag Team title match: Magnus and Samoa Joe (c) vs. The Motor City Machine Guns
TNA Knockouts title match: Gail Kim (c) vs. Velvet Sky
TNA TV title match: Devon (c) vs. Robbie E.
Matt Morgan vs. Crimson
The bout between Hardy and Angle could be fun and I am absolutely looking forward to seeing Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley back in action. To get a bette idea of what fans can expect, TNA has released a half hour Before the Bell special on Lockdown.
