Like Sergio told us one week ago, the main event for next year's WrestleMania 29 is likely going to be announced on Raw this coming Monday night (April 2, 2012). That's no different than what they did last year when it was announced that The Rock would be taking on John Cena at WrestleMania 28, which is just one day away now.
Plenty of fans have taken issue with attempting to build one feud for an entire year and there have been pros and cons to the approach to this year's 'Mania headliner. But WWE obviously believes that if it can pull enough of a shock announcement, it will sustain them throughout the year and lead into yet another mega event like we'll be getting tomorrow night.
However, we still don't know if WWE has something special up its sleeve.
The Wrestling Observer has provided an update on Brock Lesnar and apparently both sides are working towards a deal that, if done in time, will lead to an angle that would pave the way to announce his return at WrestleMania 29. And that would happen on Raw just two days from now.
Of course, contingency plans are always required and they may very well have one in Shawn Michaels, who teased media members in Miami (via BetweenTheRopes.com) that the finish of the Undertaker vs. Triple H match could lead to a big announcement on Raw the next night.
Because of his feud with Chris Jericho and the plans for it to continue into the next month or so at the very least, it's safe to assume CM Punk vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin won't be announced, if it happens at all, until much later in the year.
Batista is also in town but we have no idea what he's there for, though he was reportedly picked up by WWE officials. But, as Star of Savage points out, he could just be there for the Hall of Fame ceremony for his friend Ric Flair.
There are a lot of variables at play here and it's quite the intriguing time in WWE right now. WrestleMania weekend, folks.
