Rumors have abounded for some time now that Brock Lesnar would be on his way back to WWE just as soon as his UFC career ended. Well, he retired from the fight game this past Dec. 30, 2011, following his knockout defeat at the hands of Alistair Overeem at UFC 141. That paved the way for him to head back to scripted world, if only for a major one off match at WrestleMania, which he said he was open to doing.
UFC President Dana White gave the go-ahead and now Lesnar and WWE are in negotiations. This according to the Wrestling Observer:
Regarding Brock Lesnar rumors for the weekend, the two sides have been talking in recent weeks as was hinted in the Dwayne Johnson interview last week when Lesnar's name was brought up as a possible opponent for next year.
Naturally, rumors should be taken with a grain of salt but with the business in the state it's currently in, it's no surprise WWE is taking a few trips to the old well full of legends for its biggest show of the year.
This year it's The Rock. He'll be there next year, too, but now we know he may be joined by Brock Lesnar. On top of that, Stone Cold Steve Austin has been doing some heavy petting on Twitter with CM Punk. Both have expressed a desire to work with each other and in Austin's case, he needs to come back sooner rather than later considering his age.
That's not quite the case with Brock. At just 34-years-old, he's got plenty of time to get something worked out. Plus, how likely is the company to fit so many big time stars on one show? Theoretically, WrestleMania 29 next year in New Jersey could feature the following names, based on rumors: The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, Brock Lesnar, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, and CM Punk.
Talk about a mark's dream.
