Whoever predicted that Kurt Angle would get injured right before his Olympic run ...

... congratulations. You hit the nail on the head.

Kurt Angle called in to TMZ today and informed them his dreams of heading back to the Olympics all these years later may be dashed by a simple hamstring injury.

From the article:

Former Team USA wrestling bad ass Kurt Angle has hit a major hurdle in his quest to return to the Olympics … telling TMZ he sustained a major injury that could put an end to his journey.

"I injured my hamstring this morning … it is a tear."

The injury occurred during a training session this morning … and he has an MRI scheduled for tomorrow.

Angle tells us, "I still plan on going [to the Olympics] … I’ve been training for a whole year now … so it all depends on how it heals … but if this tear is really bad, there’s a chance I may not go."

Is anyone really surprised here? His run for the Olympics always felt like more stunt than substance and the timing of this injury is just too convenient. Now he can back out and nary a word can be said for his failure to make the team, which was always likely to be the case.

But if he's too hurt for the Olympics does that mean he won't be at TNA's Lockdown pay-per-view as he's currently scheduled to be? Let's see how he spins that if/when it happens.

Either way, everyday it seems Angle finds new ways to crap on his legacy and, more importantly, his credibility.
