To all good things come an end.
Luckily for the technicos of CHIKARA, the same can be said for the bad things.
For two years, Die Bruderschaft des Kreuzes (BDK) ran nearly unchecked in the promotion, wreaking havoc everywhere they went. Thanks to having then-Director of Fun Dieter VonSteigerwalt and referee Derek Sabato in their pocket, BDK was able control nearly every aspect of CHIKARA.
The King of the Trios (KOT), the Young Lions Cup and a nearly-year long reign as the Campeonatos de Parejas stood as evidence of their dominance.
But the cracks in their seemingly invincible armor began to show going into 2011. First, the team of Ares and Claudio Castagnoli lost the tag straps at the season nine finale. Then BDK failed to advance beyond the quarterfinals in defense of their KOT crown. In the 12 Large: Summit tournament to crown a Grand Champion, Castagoli failed to make a significant impact and even had a hand in turning one of his own, Sara Del Rey, against him and the rest of BDK.
She, along with Green Ant and UltraMantis Black through their own individual efforts, put an end to the stable as CHIKARA and its fans knew it at High Noon with a trio of victories over Jakob Hammermeier, Tursas and the team of Ares and Tim Donst, respectively.
At the season 11 opener, The Thirteenth Hat, the remnants of the once formidable group took on 3.0 in tag action. Hammermeier and Donst are all the remains of a golden era for rudos.
