Alberto Del Rio return advertised for WWE house shows this weekend, Raw appearance too?

Photo

Guess who's back?

That's right, it's the one and only Alberto Del Rio, who is now advertised for upcoming house shows this weekend in Northern California. Not only that, Ricardo Rodriguez is hinting towards a return on Raw next Monday night (Feb. 13, 2012) as well:

"Thinking of going to California this weekend.. Hmm. ... Thinking of going from Northern California and driving the coast to the SoCal.. Still debating."

Next Monday night's Raw will be held at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego.

Del Rio has been out of action since injuring his groin in December of last year. He made a few appearances in a wheel chair and cut a promo or two but he's largely been missing in action.

It will be good to see him return, too, considering the absolute lack of solid heels on the Raw brand right now. Miz is floundering and getting crushed underneath the weight of his own inability to execute even basic moves (or catch falling foes before they bounce their dome off the floor) and outside of Chris Jericho, there really isn't anyone of note to catch fan's attention. I mean, there's Kane but he's too busy sexually harassing Eve in a storyline that no one wants to see.

So, really, Del Rio can save us. Unless, of course, Vince McMahon still isn't all that happy with him not working a stronger style. Let's hope that's not the case and it's a good day at the office.

A good question, though, is who exactly will Del Rio return for a program with? Any Cagesiders care to guess what they'll do with him leading up to WrestleMania?

I thought Funk was getting Regal

Del Rio can easily be used as Sheamus fodder or to replace The Miz, so there’s utility.

no way

word is vince likes the guy a lot, so i doubt they would feed him in a platter to a main eventer other than john cena himself

Actually, that makes some sense

Plus, Brodus was Del Rio’s “bodyguard” before he left TV, so…

I wonder if they'll tweak his character

So Alby is back.

Let me guess. He will replace the Miz or R-Truth at Elimination Chamber.

me thinks

He feuds with Mysterio again. I dunno why, but I just feel that’s the plan.

That would be interesting

Del Rio can go over to Myserterio’s house and put him in the cross armbreaker while Mysterio is rehabbing his knee.

bad thing is

they just dont let him cut his own promos, i guess they dont trust in his english or something, if you go to a road show youll see how good he is at gettin a reaction from the crowd, when hes on raw with all that scripted stuff the crowd is dead most of the time

No one has any creative freedom in WWE.

Working in a WWE ring is like working in a cubicle. You’re to do what you’re told. Nothing more, nothing less. Just like with any other corporations, it’s how it is.

Wait.

Didn’t you just say that Taker has total control of his streak in another thread?

Cannot wait..

This guy oozes with personality and charm. He needs to start doing the eye wink again.

No idea why that was dropped when he moved over from Smackdown. Perhaps they wanted him to be more “serious” along the same lines as Vince wanting him to work a stronger style. For me, it was the equivalent of the Million Dollar Man’s evil laugh.

It was greatness and he should bring it back

That smile and wink to an opponent he just put in the cross armbreaker is so demeaning and perfect for a heel.

I think ADR will likely have a brief starter feud with a midcard face like Kofi or Truth and then end up in MITB at Mania. If things go well then hopefully he’ll end up in a upper card feud with Orton by SummerSlam.

Honestly I think the WWE is missing out on a pretty easy way to get some of these heels over, and that’s by having them take on HHH. And of course not having him bury them and squash them. HHH can help make some of these guys seem like legit stars, just like Foley helped out HHH in early 2000. I don’t see it happening though.

With some decent booking a feud with Taker would have put ’em into the big league as well. The irony is that these two career-makers seem to be feuding with eachother.

Didn't even notice he was gone.

Seriously, I totally forgot about this guy and I’m kind of upset that you brought him up.
