WWE: Rise above sexism
Many people are complimenting John Cena for his promo during last nights Raw (Feb. 02), and I can understand why. It was a solid speech that hit all the points it needed to, put the ball in The Rock's court, and built up anticipation for WrestleMania 28. Cena didn't rely on his corny shtick, didn't tell little jokes, and didn't pander to the crowd. It was about the best we could have expected from this version of Cena.
Except for the opening segment.
I cannot put into words how disgusted I was with the mistreatment of Eve. It was disgusting, vile, sick, derogatory, and offense. This is a man who is the face of the "Be a Star" program, as well as the face of the WWE. He is a man who constantly talks about "rising above hate." Cena is a role model to millions of young fans.
This is how he personifies his values?
There will be plenty of debate about whether Eve deserved it or whether it is just a story and these are actors playing their parts. I know I cannot convince everyone just how wrong Cena's actions where. But they were wrong. John Cena has a mother, a wife, and possibly a daughter in the future. How would he react to anyone calling those close to him a slut, hoe, whore, or anything of the like?
I would imagine Cena would not take kindly to it.
I will be the first to admit that my language is often very colorful. Words only have the meanings that we give them. There should be no doubt, though, what meaning Cena gave his words last night. His intentions were harmful and it was the act of a bully. There are a thousand of different ways to have gotten his point across. Instead, he sunk the lowest comment denominator. If there is a single person in the WWE who should rise above the sexist bullsh*t, it should be John Cena.
I cannot in good conscience do nothing. Perhaps this is hypocritical of me for allowing certain professional wrestlers to get a pass while attack Cena. But if he is going to continue harping about how pure and good he is, then he should be held to a higher standard.
And so, Cagesiders, I ask a favor our of you. If you have a Twitter account, please direct a tweet to @JohnCena with #riseabovesexism . Tell your friends, family, co-workers, etc. to do the same. I do not know if this will change anything. He probably receives a million tweets a day, and I doubt he looks through every single one. But I feel the need to do something. If we get enough people with a singular focus, perhaps something will come of this. I strongly urge everyone to help right this wrong.
Thank you.

She, admittedly, was being a gold digger. She was using Zack Ryder, luring him on with the notion of sexuality or whatever other word you want to call it, and claimed she was going to do the same thing with John Cena. That is more or less the definition of a ‘ho’. That it became ‘hoeski’ is a made-up phrase that people have been using on the internets for an entire week now, to no outrage or consternation.

Gotta say
that based on how last nights live discussion went and the turn it took that perhaps the commenters of CSS aren’t the best judges of sexism?

That was only a select few people...
…the majority of the commenters here have a decent head on their shoulders.

Personally
I’d love to kill photos in “live” discussions. 1000+ comment with pictures and .gifs can take forever to load.
Sorry, I’m way off topic.

I don't know...
The occasional picture/.gif isn’t that bad. Some of them are great & hilarious…but when it turns into ‘post random chicks’…then I’m all for it.

You can’t be too hard on everybody. If only there was another place to find pictures of scantily clad women besides a wrestling site…like maybe somewhere else on the internet. That’d be a million dollar idea.

Can someone please post a link to a video of the segment?
My DVR didn’t record it, and I missed it.
You don't want to see it.
It’s….bad. It’s really bad.
Not like, Katie Vick level bad or Edge/Lita Live Sex Show bad.
More like…Cryme Tyme throwing Lita’s underwear & a sex toy in the crowd level bad.

The only thing the WWE is guilty of was dragging that on for five minutes too long (which happens a lot)
No need to see her being escorted out of the ring. Have John Cena come out, say his schpiel, leave, and fade to commercial. Let Eve leave then. Another non-issue.

comparing calling eve a ho to calling cena's mum a ho
MASSIVELY different. Eve is a character on tv, and Cena’s mum is not.
If anybody walks up to Eve in the street (or as is happening – tweeting her abuse) and calls her a ho, they need to get a grip and realise it’s not real for heaven’s sake.
The content of WWE programming is what it is. Just like all other shows they have legal guidelines etc and need to abide by them, and if the Eve segment broke any of those guidelines then they should be dealt with accordingly. But otherwise, vote with your remote control.
I did what you asked...
#Riseabovesexism, but this picture is mind blowing. I hope I get it to work right.

Never heard of this joint.
Cena gets the low down on a lot of places to lift.
