Chyna's 'Queen of the Ring' wrestling porn parody exposes AJ Lee storyline as ugly and distasteful

IMPACT! Wrestling

Find out what AJ Lee and Chyna have in common with Scott Hall as WWE marches its viewers through another distasteful storyline.

When Paul Heyman stumbled around the ring a few weeks back, pretending to have a heart attack as a way to mock ringside commentator Jerry Lawler (and generate as much cheap heat as possible), a good portion of the pro wrestling fan base cried foul.

I believe the general consensus was how the angle was done in "poor taste."

That's because "The King" collapsed on air back in September and had to be rushed to the hospital, and using what could have been one of the great tragedies of the last 10 years as fodder for CM Punk's "respect" promo, left a lot of people hot under the collar.

I wasn't one of them.

You can read why by clicking here, but the abridged version, for purposes of this discussion, is that Lawler's heart attack was brought on by natural causes and Coca-Cola's number one fan was able to make a full recovery. All's well that ends well, from a certain point of view.

Hey Hulkster, what's that got to do with Chyna spreading her legs?

Everything. Remember when Chris Jericho was using alcoholism to torture CM Punk? The "Ayatollah of Rock 'n Rolla" even came to the ring and dumped various spirits over the champ's crumpled and concussed body on several occasions, promising him a relapse in sobriety.

I found it reprehensible.

"It's the most amount of money we've spent on anyone. I just want Scott to get help and to decide for himself that he needs help. It makes me sad. I don't want anybody to pass away prematurely or otherwise really. Scott was an incredibly talented performer, larger than life, charismatic. He's a father, he's a friend. I'm sure he means a lot to a lot of people and it would be a shame for him to pass away."

Funny, right? ROFL?

That's a direct quote from Stephanie McMahon, explaining to ESPN how hard she's been working to help keep Scott Hall, the artist formerly known as Razor Ramon and one of the founding members of perhaps the greatest pro wrestling faction of all time, from drinking himself to death.

Oh, by the way, the "Billion-Dollar Princess" is also the head of creative.

She's also had her face smashed in cow shit. You know, to help drive a narrative. Does that explain why AJ Lee has been sleeping with most of the WWE locker room? I don't know. I'm not a psychologist, but if McMahon is the self-loathing dictator she's made out to be, then maybe this explains why there's no clear point to Lee's bang tango with John Cena.

That makes it all the more disgusting.

People sleep around, I get it, but I don't find any merit in a storyline that centers on a desperate woman who will bend over on cue in the off chance it keeps her in the headlines. That's what Joanie Laurer is doing, as art imitates life imitating art, and it's a cry for help.

Those cries have fallen on deaf ears.

Not just by WWE, but by its vaunted "universe," as well. Out of sight, out of mind. What makes "Chyna" any different than Scott Hall? If you're thinking "alcoholism will kill you, porn won't," then maybe you should look at how many people died from AIDS last year.

1.7 million dead. 2.5 million infected.

Chyna claims her recent Queen of the Ring porn parody made her feel "sexy" and "wanted." This is a woman who was unceremoniously dumped by Triple H, heir to the WWE throne, before being ostracized from the business. Now, she needs to get fucked by a guy named Anthony Hardwood, playing the role of faux Vince McMahon, for her to feel good about herself.

Her words, not mine.

Parading Lee around the ring like a worthless slut is akin to dumping a bottle of whiskey on CM Punk. Not only does it make light of major social ills, it plays like a veiled attempt at pointing and laughing at past performers who struggle to exist with a life outside the squared circle.

Outside my loose interpretation of the Good Samaritan Law, WWE is not liable for the sins of its children.

But by the same token, it shouldn't use those sins for "good television" while simultaneously bragging about how it's the only entertainment company that provides comprehensive "assistance and ongoing support to its former performers." The WWE's Talent Wellness Program, established in 2006, is designed to keep past and present employees healthy.

Too bad the employer is the one who's sick.
