The Rock won his first WWF championship on this date in history, defeating Mankind in the finals of the Deadly Games Tournament at Survivor Series 1998.

On November 15, 1998, World Wrestling Federation (WWF) unveiled the "Deadly Game" tournament at Survivor Series for the vacant WWF championship.

The Rock defeated Mankind by submission to win the belt in a very Montreal Screwjobish-type of finish that was a catalyst for "The Brahma Bull" turning heel and joining The Corporation.
