As I watched Raw on Monday night (Nov 12, 2012), one thing seemed pretty clear: Brad Maddox has a lot of potential.
His promo before he came out to the ring, about having no regrets, just oozed charisma and confidence. He conveyed a lot of cocky charisma as he came out, and he was able to turn his expression and tone on a dime when the ambulance backed into the arena.
During the match, he was beat down the whole time and got no offense in, but he was able to sell very well and take some brutal bumps while making Ryback look like a million bucks. On top of that, he was even able to tell a good story in the ring.
He displayed abilities well beyond what many of the low to mid-card talents already have.
Last week, he was given plenty of mic time on National Television and pulled it off very well. Could Swagger, Morrison, or even Kofi Kingston have done that? I'm not so sure. I definitely don't think they could have done it their first time out.
Now, I don't follow the indy scene, I haven't seen what he can do offense-wise, and that could make or break him. I'm not a big mark for him either, I just saw a spark on Monday. I will be watching young Maddox as he develops.
Do any of you agree? Where you impressed at all by his performance?
Just in case you missed the "Ambulance Match":
