CSSGMT: 'Royal Rumble 1992' advances to Sweet Sixteen

Stay connected for news and updates

"Royal Rumble 1992" has advanced to the Sweet Sixteen in the Cageside Seats Greatest Matches Tournament, despite an early disadvantage.

It looked bleak early for "Royal Rumble 1992." Votes were rushing in heavily in favor of "CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan, Over the Limit 2012," a six seed, perhaps thanks to how fresh it is in our minds.

Not to mention the talent of the two men involved.

Then, the Rumble came rushing back to tie it. A tug of war ensued with both sides gaining the edge at various points throughout the day, as you can see in the graph below:

It looked like this would continue until the bloody end but that was not to be the case. After the final tie, only one more vote came in for Punk vs. Bryan. Every other vote went to the Rumble, the greatest of its kind.

And with a tear in its eye, it has advanced to the Sweet Sixteen by a final tally of 37-20.

Up next: (1) "Randy Savage v Ricky Steamboat, WrestleMania 3" vs. (9) "Ric Flair v Randy Savage, WrestleMania 8."
