WCW was good for many things but goofy match stipulations wasn't one of them. Witness Sting vs. Jake Roberts in a Coal Miner's Glove match on this date in history.
On October 25, 1992, Sting and Jake Roberts faced off in the main event of WCW's Halloween Havoc at the Philadelphia Civic Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
And it came complete with ringside commentary from the team of Jim Ross and Jesse "The Body" Ventura, which in and of itself is worth the price of admission.
They made sure to really drive home the point that it was "unsanctioned," to try and add a layer of danger to their "Coal Miner's Glove Match." Gimmicky, yes, but effective. That's what happens when you "spin the wheel and make a deal."
Very Thunder-domish of them.
Any Cagesiders out there remember this match? How did you react when "The Snake" got bit by the snake? Pretty gruesome to see Damien locked on to Roberts' face.
