It was quite possibly the greatest match in the history of Ring of Honor -- Samoa Joe vs. Kenta Kobashi.
Although it fell to the 1992 Royal Rumble in the Cageside Seats Greatest Matches Tournament just over one week ago, the match that took place on this date in history (Oct. 1, 2005) is still one of the best ever.
Samoa Joe vs. Kenta Kobashi at the New Yorker Hotel in New York, New York.
Kobashi had come over as a superstar from Japan who had only ever performed on American soil once before, also in Ring of Honor and also in a match that involved Joe.
But it wasn't even close to the hard-hitting, back-and-forth five-star classic they engaged in here.
Words won't do it justice. Listen to the roar of the crowd, the slap of the skin, the adrenaline rush of the many near falls and the euphoria when the finish finally comes. It's everything pro wrestling should be.
