New Cageside Seats and SBNation...same old Smark's Shoot Standings (S3). Fanboys and girls are notoriously change-averse, so we're happy to provide something to give a little nostalgia pop to in the sea of All New, All Different we've been wading in for the last week.
For six months, the S3 has been the spot for YOU to weigh in on what is working for you in nationally televised pro wrestling. We used to do it with a poll, now we do it via your comments. Through Brock Lesnar's return and disappearances, CM Punk's will he or won't he heel turn, the foregone conclusion until it wasn't of James Storm's Bound for Glory series win and a feud between Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio that's been going since Wrestlemania - you tell us who's been making an impression, we tally up your votes and crank out some Standings.
Read on to find out who ranked last week and in the year so far. Then comment with your top three performers from last week. Every vote makes a difference, so give your favorites a push.
Remember, the Standings are for the previous week - the September 24th Raw, Impact from September the 27th and the Smackdown episode that aired on the 28th.
Make YOUR mark, smarks!
His lips say "NO", but his eyes say "YES"
Team Hell No, and the Smackdown episode largely centered around them, dominated the Standings...even dragging a returning Hall of Famer in their wake. But outside of that, our commenters cast a wide net - resulting in some long absent performers (oh yeah, you can vote for TNA workers...and Randy Orton, too) and new names making waves. It's like I said above, every vote counts.
The S3 - Week Ending September 23
1. Daniel Bryan
2. Kane
3. Damien Sandow
4. Bully Ray
5. (tie) Edge
5. (tie) Titus O'Neil
5. (tie) Bobby Roode
5. (tie) Ryback
9. (tie) Randy Orton
9. (tie) Cody Rhodes
9. (tie) Heath Slater
This was the first time that Punk didn't place since our inception, making it a great time for Bryan to come out on top and really close the gap on our annual leader. Bobby Roode leaped over another Paul Heyman guy, while Kane a waiter named Gerald is closing in our top ten.
The S3 Performer of the Year - through the Week Ending Sept 23
1. CM Punk - 163.5 points
2. Daniel Bryan - 156
3. AJ Lee - 108
4. Austin Aries - 103
5. Dolph Ziggler - 79.5
6. Damien Sandow - 73.33
7. Chris Jericho - 53
8. Bobby Roode - 45.5
9. Brock Lesnar - 45
10. Alberto Del Rio - 39.25
Give us a comment with your top three performers from last week. If you want to vote for a tag team, we'll split their points, but they count as two of your three votes. If that's as clear as mud, ask a question in the comments and we'll get you an answer.
Check out Nolan Howell's invaluable weekly roundup here to make sure you're not forgetting anything. We'll see you next week for this week's winners and, for my fellow stat nerds, our Quarterly Data Dump.
