Tonight, on a very special edition of Champs and Tramps ...
Just over six years ago, Edge cashed in his Money in the Bank (MITB) briefcase at the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) New Year's Revolution pay-per-view (PPV) event, and came out on the January 9, 2006, edition of Monday Night Raw to celebrate his win and stick it to the fans.
And then stick something else.
Not satisfied with simply gloating over the way he beat John Cena to win the gold the night before, the "Rated-R Superstar" was also going to treat fans to his own little afterparty.
Right in the middle of the ring.
Yep, RAW returns from the break with a bed inside the squared circle and well, you just had to know nothing good would come of it. No pun intended, of course.

How about it Cagesiders, all time low for Vince and the WWE? Or just another tasteless program that was dead on arrival?

Tasteless
and I just wasn’t a fan. I get that it was suppose to garner him some heat, but the whole Lita thing was already getting him booed. There was no need to degrade her any further by stamping home the “tramp” label.

This really got her over even more as a slut
which is essentially the way she was booked from 2005 on, seemingly because that’s how fans felt about her anyway after the smear campaign Matt Hardy went on for all that time after she dumped him for Edge. That’s partially why she left the business. Just got to be too much for her to handle people calling her that all the time. Can’t say I blame her.
Plus, why do a live sex show on USA on a program where there’s absolutely no chance of seeing anything at all? It’s just a lame idea.

Since something was seen, I wouldn’t say absolutely no chance. The greatness that is live TV paid off for the Lita fans.

It really added to having one of the better female wrestlers in the business’s history drop out of the company. And the way I saw it, she was already hearing it from the fans due to the Hardy situation, so why denigrate her further? She drew heat, but it wasn’t legitimate. It became the norm to call her a slut, and that shouldn’t be.

The same reasons the WWE does/did all the (sometimes) weird non-wrestling things imported into a wrestling ring.

Completely stupid and such, but
as mentioned above, it involved Lita and less clothes than normal. So, in retrospect, I’m cool. I didn’t watch wrestling at that point, but I periodically saw it with my little brother. Always had a thing for Lita- there’s something about goth/punk girls…

I remember that moment so well for one hilarious and awesome reason
They’re doing their thing and then Lita goes under the covers. And then she takes off her bra as Edge goes under the covers too. Then, we have ourselves a good ol’ Janet Jackson Superbowl moment. I remember thinking, “Did I just see a…” and then the screen went black for like 5 seconds. It looks like when they reaired it, they either cut out that part or did that zoom in to the bra during that moment.
It was a catalyst for them losing their TSN deal, so, in hindsight, probably a bad idea.

At the time, I thought it was pretty low. Looking back on it now, it was greatness. I say this outside of the fact Lita was half naked as well.
