Your weekly dose of Brodus Clay as the Funkasaurus from Planet Funk who is funky

Photo of Brodus Clay via WWE.com.

It's Tuesday, folks, and that means it's time for your weekly dose of Brodus Clay as the Funkasaurus from Planet Funk who is funky.

In this latest edition from last night's (Jan. 30) episode of Raw, Clay squashes Tyler Reks, yet another jobber no one knows enough about to bother giving a care for. That could change one day, of course, but today is not that day.

No major changes in the Funkasaurus character this week. He didn't shout spots as much as usual, which was disappointing, but he did throw an elbow reminiscent of the great Dusty Rhodes. Maybe that's because they're both fat guys who jiggle when said elbows are thrown. Nonetheless, it was amazing.

One thing I like about the progression of Clay, and it's slow but it definitely is a progression, is that each week he sells for his opponent more and more. This week, he was dropkicked until he fell to one knee. Of course, he answered with his version of the "hulk up" (the funk up?) and smashed Reks the rest of the way, but at least he's showing vulnerability.

Really, the funky dancing and jiggling act is fun and will continue to be so but the truly interesting aspect of the Clay character comes in how they continue to move it along. Who will be the first man to defeat him? How will that happen? When will he get a legitimate opponent?

We'll have to wait for all that. In the meantime, enjoy the video of Clay squashing Reks on Raw last night.

I think the gimmick is fun but I would like to see a little more out of him.

Maybe have him challenged instead of squashing jobbers.

Now, count up your crimes!

I agree with this

Squasing jobbers will only last so long. Hopefully he gets a good match for EC

A Jack Swagger feud should start immediately.

No other midcarder on RAW is big enough to truly sell a program with Clay, and it’s not like Swagger has anything else better to do. And even if they bring back the Money in the Bank match at Wrestlemania, big guys like Clay and Swagger really shouldn’t participate.

Although no one asked, here’s my preferred list of combatants for the next MitB: Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, Cody Rhodes, Justin Gabriel, Christian (if healthy), Alberto del Rio (if healthy and has nothing better to do), Rey Mysterio (yadda yadda), then R-Truth or Jinder Mahal or Heath Slater.

Happy that his opponents are now starting to actually get some offense in. The squashing was starting to get boring.

Tyler Reks needs a new gimmick. Some kind of crazy tribal man, or something to that effect. With hair like that, you gotta. What is he anyway, some kind of California surfing dude?

Also, which girl is which? The girl on the right, I think she has a prettier face, but the girl on the right, she’s got some ass.

Naomi has the booty. She was on NXT. The prettier face is Cameron. I thought Naomi was pretty good on NXT. Hopefully, she gets in the ring sometime.

Gotta build the dude up with a series of squashes.

The problem is that the WWE has about eight hundred hours of television a week, so it’s getting old quicker than back in the day, when you’d get one three minute jobber squash every week or two on Superstars.

This needs to lead to Brodus beating Jack Swagger in ten minutes for the US Title ASAP.
