Hulk Hogan
Hogan has been busy the last few days. Last night, as with fellow WWE HOF and current talent for that poorly run outfit in mid-Florida Ric Flair, Hogan was a guest voice on The Cleveland Show. Like Flair, he was sporting an old WWF belt, Flair had the big Gold Belt he's been synonymous with his entire career. The Hulkster also gave several interviews and as previously reported here at CSS, he actually wrestled in London, England.
More of Hogan's tall tales after the break.
Courtesy of The Sun: Hogan said “I used to be a session musician before I was a wrestler. I played bass guitar. I was big pals with Lars Ulrich and he asked me if I wanted to play bass with Metallica in their early days but it didn’t work out.”This is just one of many more recent Hoganisms, on top of all the other ones he's told his entire life. So what do you think Cageside-amaniacs, do we believe?

The bass playing is legit.
He does know how to play bass…but I HIGHLY doubt that Metallica approached him. He stole that story from Les Claypool.
Guitar, not so much

But look at him go

Les Claypool auditioned when they were looking for a replacement for Cliff, iirc. They said he was awesome but not what they were looking for. I don’t imagine he would have worked out anyway. He’s much better off as the frontman of a group.
I really doubt Hogan was a serious consideration for bass player before they found Cliff. If he did know Lars in the very early 80s, which is a weird claim since Hogan was already a wrestler in 1977, years before Metallica was even conceived. Lars was 14 in 77, 17 or 18 when Metallica formed in 1981. Hulkster was already on top of the world practically when Cliff died.

I know the story. : )
The interviews with Hetfield & Lars regarding it are PRICELESS!
