With Sheamus Winning the Royal Rumble, What's Gonna Happen with the "End of the World" That We Know?

During the last Monday Night Raw before the 25th WWE Royal Rumble, Chris Jericho held his talk show 'The Highlight Reel' (with less talking, as usual). But before he ended the segment, he made everyone aware with one thing: It's gonna be 'the end of the world as we know it' when he appears on the 30-man Rumble match. Wrestling fans and the IWC of course went ecstatic and looked forward to what will the Ayatollah of Rock and Rollah has in store.

Coming in at Number 29, Chris Jericho made his presence felt - something that the whole wrestling fandom really waited to see for almost a month of trolling us over. As we moved along, we came down to the final two - Jericho and Sheamus, one of the great wrestlers of this generation. We were all hanging onto our seats hoping that Y2J wins the match - the first for his career. But the match ended and our winner is...

SHEAMUS!

In my opinion, Sheamus deserves every bit of winning the Rumble and headline Wrestlemania going against whoever he chooses (the WWE Champ or the World Heavyweight Champ). However, this is a perfect example how good the WWE in pulling off swerves up to the last minute. Sure, we'll be able to spoil ourselves with dirt sheets post-Rumble, but that leaves us one question in mind?

What's gonna happen to Chris Jericho's quest on 'ending the world as we know it?'

Star-divide

Of course, most (if not all) of us look forward to Chris Jericho feuding with CM Punk at Wrestlemania - The Best in the World at What He Does vs. The Best in the World. As I see it, it would be something that can draw a lot of interest towards the Grandest Stage of them All - alongside with The Rock vs. John Cena and the possible last Career vs Streak Match with The Undertaker vs. whoever is booked to try and end it (HHH? Maybe, but we're not sure).

With the Rumble's fallout as it was, here's something that can possibly lead us to a kickass feud between Jericho and Punk:

  • Since Punk retained the WWE Title during his match with Dolph Ziggler at the Rumble, he might defend it inside the Elimination Chamber on the next PPV with the same name. Possible entrants to vie for the prize are Ziggler, Rhodes, Barrett, Orton and Miz.
  • Punk loses the title to either Ziggler or Barrett with Chris Jericho interferring in the match with the referee being blind-sided. When that happens, it's automatic that Punk hunts Jericho to pay the prize. The Elimination Chamber will be the perfect start to build up this potentially amazing program between two of the best in the world (no doubt).

Of course, a lot can still happen in the course of our journey to the Biggest Stage of Them All. But at this point, I just hope the WWE Creative Team can consider to put up a match between these 2 great performers and I'm sure as hell that if it happens (and I'm crossing my fingers on this) - we are in for a one great Wrestlemania moment.
