Video: Chris Jericho keeps trolling (trolling, trolling) backstage at WWE Raw last night (Jan. 2, 2012)
We've dissected pretty much every single angle of Chris Jericho's glorious return to WWE last night (Jan. 2, 2012) on Raw and the general consensus seems to be that we all kind of hated it while it was happening but most of us came around towards the end when we realized what old Y2J was doing.
Keep trolling, trolling, trolling.
The good news here is that this wasn't a one-off and it's not a swerve, at least not in the sense that he came back just to throw everyone off the real scent, which is the Undertaker's return. That's a theory that is still floating around, and it's a least somewhat plausible, seeing as the Deadman needs to return sometime soon to set up his WrestleMania match this year.
The Wrestling Observer tells us Jericho is going back on the road full time. None of this back-every-now-and-again-to-get-to-WrestleMania business like The Rock. No, he's completely back, at least for now, which is good because we really need an answer for his antics last night. His coming out and working the crowd into a frenzy before turning them without talking was awesome but, as many of you have already noted, definitely needs follow up.
We've got a little something more to work with today, though. That's because WWE.com posted a little 30-second clip of someone trying to get an interview with Jericho to ask him just what the hell he was doing. All the while, Jericho just smiles and walks, not saying a word.
Finally, the interviewer asks Jericho if he's going to enter the Royal Rumble. At this point, Jericho stops and suddenly his LED jacket, which hadn't been lit up before, lights up and he looks to the camera and gives another big cheesy smile and nod before walking off again.
I can't do it justice, so watch the video after the jump and interpret it in the comments, Cagesiders.

Pretty funny although it felt too much like a TNA backstage video. The only thing missing was Wayne Arnold.
I had to watch it twice
and I only laughed harder. His expression when asked how it felt to hear the Y2J chants was priceless. And the jacket & grin… oh man. I hope they tease some more before Monday.

I hope that jacket finds a permanent spot in his wardrobe

I'll bet one dollar Canadian...
That he will be at the Rumble… and that he’ll piss people off while simultaneously showing us something wonderful.
Jericho's never won the Rumble before right?
I could see him winning it this year.
Also, if he turns heel I hope they don’t make him that lame “I’m smarter than you and I’ll prove it by using a bunch of multisyllabic words in this promo” heel. Hopefully it’s more of a cocky prick, but with a shot of that Jericho sly humor.
I’m still not over that they never let him use his WCW heel character. The Man of 1,004 Holds was amazing.
See, and as much as the boring heel character was a waste of his talent
I thought he took that bit farther than anybody could have imagined and made it work.
Writer (and a handsome one at that),
And the Valley Shook
Agreed
It wasn’t him at his best, but it was better than most. Based on last night, I’m hoping his latest iteration will be more along the lines of his older work. I even watched a few old clips to get my hopes up.
