Precap for the Royal Rumble or, the Royal (Rumble) with cheese

Say "what" again

Ah, here we are. The most electrifying match in ALL of sports entertainment, the Royal Rumble. There has been plenty said about the match, both here on Cageside and around the Internet. There is little that I can add that will increase the excitement.

I will say this, though. The Rumble contains all the reasons why I love pro wrestling. It is 30 storylines all intertwined. It is filled with a bunch of small, individual moments, either funny or exciting; heroic or villainous. All the individual cogs of the WWE come together for a grander story. There is no brand split in the Royal Rumble. There are 30 wrestlers together for the greatest gimmick in sports entertainment.

And emerging from that, there is a single winner.

Who will it be this year? No one knows for sure. But we all know that it will be a damn fun time watching.

The rest of the card after the jump.

Star-divide

Cena! Kane! Hate! Endings!

John Cena was really, really mad last Monday (Jan. 23), and it is time for him to get his revenge. What could have been one of the best storylines has turned into something far less desirable. The pacing of this feud has been completely off, with way too much show time being given to this one story. After tonight, though, we may be able to take the next step. I really want this to work, and I will have my hopes up that this match leads to something better. At the very least, Ryder won't play Jesse Bradford to Kane's Erika Christensen.

Bryan! Show! Henry! Steel Cage! World Heavyweight Championship!

The reigning World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan defends his title against the Big Show and Mark Henry. Maybe. Henry's injury might take him out of the match, which would be a shame. Even if he does participate, they will have to cover his injury somehow. Bryan has been doing amazing as heel, though, and Big Show is playing his role excellently. Look for Bryan to cheat out a win, and to continue to be one of the best pro wrestlers on the roster.

Punk! Ziggler! Johnny Ace! WWE Championship!

CM Punk goes up against Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Championship, with John Laurinaitis as the special guest referee. Before last week, this was head and shoulders above the rest of the undercard. Now that Triple H is inserting himself back into the show, the fear is that Punk is getting his story derailed ... again. Tonight's match, though, will be fun and likely filled with shenanigans. Ziggler will show that he deserves main event status, Punk will continue to be great in the ring, and Johnny Ace will act like a lovable idiot. Let's enjoy the match, and worry about the outcome when we get to that bridge.

Jericho! End of the World! Questions!

Chris Jericho will do something. What will he do? I have no clue. I am done being made to look like an idiot. He is the smartest man in the businesses right now, and proves it every week. Do we see the return of the viral promos? Do we learn the identity of the mystery girl? Will Jericho say anything else? Will he finally shoot the t-shirt cannon? These are very important questions, people. But are they the right questions to ask? We will find out tonight. Maybe.

Hopefully this has helped get you prepared for the nights activities. Leave a comment about what you are looking forward to, make sure to follow the action @Cagesideseats and please join Geno, myself, and the whole Monday Night Sunday Night gang during the live blog here
