On this date in WWF history: The Rock and Big Show fight to a photo finish in the Royal Rumble
On January 23, 2000, the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) held its thirteenth annual Royal Rumble extravaganza from none other than Madison Square Garden in the heart of New York City.
The final two contestants were The Rock, who drew number 24, and The Big Show, who drew number 26.
Show tried to launch him with a running lumberjack carry but "The Great One" held on to the top rope and used Biggie's momentum to dump him on the floor. The Rock was your winner.
Or was he?
After the match, Show embarked on a campaign to prove that Rocky's feet hit first, eventually producing alternate footage with camera angles that clearly showed "The Brahma Bull" going flat-footed before he did.
See for yourself, after the jump.
The elimination:
The instant replay:
The Rock and The Big Show would go on to settle their dispute at No Way Out just over a month later and would battle again as part of a Fatal Four Way match at WrestleMania.

I believe this was a botched finish, i.e. both of Rock’s feet weren’t meant to touch the floor first, but they decided to acknowledge the botch and turn it into a storyline.
Yeah, I always wondered this.
Because I never understood why they wouldn’t just let the Rock win clean.
Was it? Because having the witness sitting in the crowd was just too coincidental

Wasn't a witness
That was the WWE security guy he was on like every single TV show and PPV if you you look for him. He was always at ringside and would always come down for an injury angle.

This was my favorite Rumble match(just because Rock won)...
But probably also my favorite Rumble event, you had Taz’s debut the tables match the street fight between Cactus Jack & HHH.
The Legend
The most surprising part in all of this?
X-Pac was one of the three final guys in the Rumble. X-Pac!
