Chris Jericho: I have no intentions of leaving WWE anytime soon
Good news for all you Jericholics out there. Y2J told the Winnipeg Free Press recently that he's got no plans on leaving WWE anytime soon.
"I have no intentions of leaving anytime soon, I'm in the best shape of my life, I feel great. The thing for me is I always have lots of other stuff going on and I always have. So sometimes I leave to work on other projects, but I'll always come back. When I was growing up in Winnipeg I wanted to be two things: I wanted to be a wrestler and I wanted to be in a rock and roll band and I've been lucky enough to have both of those dreams come true."
Of course, that's similar to what The Rock said when he came back and he's been away doing movies and outside ventures far more than he's been back inside the ring, though he did actually have a match before Jericho. Which is kind of insane crazy when you think about it.
There's also the small matter to consider of Fozzy, Jericho's rock band, recently signing a worldwide deal with Century Media Records, a predominantly hard rock label for smaller acts like Fozzy. Still, it's a fairly big deal for the band and something Jericho has been working towards for some time now.
However, he's booked for dates with WWE past WrestleMania, so he's planning to stick around at least until around Summerslam. After that is anyone's guess.
Maybe by then the jacket will be having matches by itself and we won't even need Jericho.

"Until Fozzy needs to tour again or something"
If thats the case………Yeah he should be here for a while
I’m all for wrestlers leaving to do side projects. It’s to everyone’s benefit if some of them can become legit stars. In addition, having part time guys pop in and out keeps things fresher than constantly featuring the same few wrestlers. Plus they wouldn’t burn out as much or get as injured. That’s a model I’d encourage. More Rocks and Jerichos.
Wish Cena would do that more. I hate his movies, but I’d rather see him there than on Raw every Monday night. The problem with doing side gigs is that sometimes they take away from the up & comers. See last years WrestleMania.. Trish came in & took Melina’s “spot”.. and I can understand her frustration.. you work all year & then get left off for someone to do a guest spot.. that hurts.. especially in the cash department.
On a side note.. I’m looking forward to Kharma’s return more than Undertaker. Layla should be back soon also. Hopefully Michelle McCool comes back for a mini run.

Melina wasn't an up and comer in any way.
She’d already been in the company for years, and hadn’t even been remotely over ever since that awful storyline with Mick Foley and the Kiss My Ass club. Not to mention the fact that she wasn’t even part of the storyline, and thus was in no danger of getting buried from it at all.
Not that it matters anyway, because it’s a Diva’s storyline, and the last Diva any significant amount of people cared about retired in 2006, her name was Trish Stratus.
It wasn't Melina's spot
She was never going to be involved in a major Wrestlemania match and her complaining about it is just further shows why the WWE had no interest in pushing her.
I think someone recently proposed guys taking scheduled time off rather than waiting for an injury. I can’t remember who it was, perhaps it was you, but it struck me as a good idea. I adm

Ugh
I admit I don’t know if this would be compatible with the current compensation model, as I don’t know much about it, nor do I care to.

I know there was a lot of discussion about it in a post about Christian
His character was getting wicked stale, but when he comes back he’ll be able to have a tweak to his character. While people return take away spots from up & comers, it also opens spots for them in the first place. There’s a way to make everyone happy if they have some type of system in place.

It really is in everyone's best interest to take some time off.
Even if they are just written off in an injury angle for 4-5 weeks, its best for the wrestlers to get some rest and to make sure that their storylines don’t get stale.
Wade Keller of PWTorch has been on this bandwagon for years
I tend to agree. Why not write someone off on injury angles to give them one-month breaks occasionally during the year. It keeps them away from the road and keeps them healthier and less stale.

It's a great idea so long as it doesn't go absurd like at the end of WCW
Like every single main eventer in WCW was taken out by Steiner and “fired” so they could go on break. I absolutely endorse a system of scheduled time off, but it needs to be staggered in such a way that it doesn’t get into WCW circa-2000 level absurdity.

Great, Jericho is here to stay...
Maybe he’ll get in shape sometime and rid himself of the bloated stomach.

Maybe you should get your eyes checked?
