Latest WWE Network video promotes 'Countdown' and 'Legend's House' shows

The latest WWE Network promo features the unveiling of the Countdown show that will air on the network when it finally rolls out sometime later this year. Not much has changed in that regard, as the April 1 launch date has reportedly been scrapped due to Vince McMahon and company coming to their senses and not trying to rush it out to coincide with WrestleMania. There's still a slim chance they'll try to do a mini-launch with certain shows, like the two advertised above, Countdown and Legend's House, as well as the planned WrestleMania Rewind show.

Again, though, they have yet to cut distribution deals with cable providers and still have yet to hire an experienced executive to head up the network. That's because everyone is scared to go anywhere near it thanks to the fact that it's got FAIL written all over it, not to mention its ties to McMahon, who doesn't exactly have the best track record.

Nonetheless, shows are being created each day and the process is moving along, if only at a snail's pace. At this point it still seems overly ambitious to launch the network by the end of this year but they're working to pull it off.

As always, stay tuned.

My big question is

NBC just launched a sports network with only hockey and the Olympics as content. I turned it on this morning, and found fishing. Fishing! NBC Sports need content, WWE wants a place to show more content, why can’t they cut a deal there? Yes, I’m aware I am simplying this to the umpteenth degree. I just wonder if the thought ever crossed anyone’s mind.

So go forth, my brethren, and proceed to mark the f*ck out

My guess is that NBC Sports would want to expand their content beyond just Olympics and hockey

They’ll want to throw some highlight shows and ESPN-like analysis shows too. That doesn’t leave much room for a WWE Network to coexist on their channel.

24 hours is a loooooong time to fill

I agree they want to expand. I’m just not sure with what. Olympics are every 4 years, and no one cares about the trials and competitions that go on between that. Hockey is seasonal. Their football coverage is not as vast as ESPN. I think you could easily have some pro wrestling. Have some type of Saturday night wrestling block for a few hours, maybe repeats of Raw and Smackdown, and during the buildup to the big four have some type of looking back shows. They could even go forward with the b-show PPV’s on the network. Every home with cable has it already. NBC should not want to be ESPN. They need to be different. Hockey, AFL, pro wrestling, etc.

So go forth, my brethren, and proceed to mark the f*ck out

As long as the WWE takes their time, and doesn't rush, I don't think this will be a disaster

They already decided to scrap the April launch, so that’s a step in the right direction.
