How would you book a heel John Cena ?

First of all, this is just pure fantasy booking and is just for entertaining purposes, so chill out before ranting in the comments lol.

Second of all...I'll get this out of the way, i dont like John Cena, and i don't mean John Felix Anthony Cena, the guy, i mean John Cena, the character, i wont deny it was kind of cool back in the day when he was some kind of a bad ass, but nowadays, hes just boring and doing the same old crap most of the time.

But the way i see it, the guy has a lot of potential, the more he stays as a lame boring face, the better he could be as a heel, the way i see it, he could be a one man NWO if they wanted him to, i mean, did you see how he kicked jack swager's ass last Monday? it was kinda bad ass, and quite entertaining.

So, i've been thinking about the whole thing for a while, creating matches and bookings in my mind, and some of the things i'd do would be something like this:

Cena goes heel and decides to screw everyone in the roster, hes angry, hes pissed, he goes around kicking asses and dominating the roster to eventually get the wwe championship, then, on a live smackdown, he goes and literally forces teddy long to book him in a match for the whc and he gets it by cheating or just plain dominating, then sometime after that he goes and gets the IC, heck he could even get the US title, and even the tag team belts, just imagine, he makes a team with some random heel, they win the titles because of course they cheat in some way, and after the match, cena kicks his partner's ass and takes that belt too, now, how awesome would it be to have one guy walking around with every single belt? then i'd probably unify the IC and US titles, and maybe even the WWEC and WHC to make an undisputed title again.

Another thing i'd do would be putting him on a stable a la 4 horseman, he could get new talents to the main event like evolution did with orton and batista, i think that would be an awesome stable for a guy like lets say ziggler, maybe even swagger, ryder could go heel too, to pay the debts he has with cena for putting him over and stuff.

So, what would you guys do with a heel cena? how would you book him?

The problem with heel Cena

Is that it has to build up to his falling. Someone will have to finally top him. Which could be the Rock, but the build is too damn short now. Unless they want to keep the Rock/Cena feud going post WM, but I don’t know if that is the best idea. Punk works too well as an asshole to make him pure babyface. Orton could work, but I’m not really sold on if that would work. That would mean someone from the outside would have to come in. I would love to see Stone Cold come back and stunner heel Cena. I guess that would be my fantasy booking. Turn him heel at WM, have him run rampant over the roster, personally I’m against unifying the belts but that’s just me, and then have it lead up to Austin/Cena at the next WM. But that’s just me.

So go forth, my brethren, and proceed to mark the f*ck out

If your going to to book a heel Cena, I was thinking a different route, being not chicken shit but pure boy scout.

However, if your going full badass heel he needs an achilies heel which would be the support of John Laurenitis. Cena battle at the Rumble he destroys Kane by haveing Mr Future Endeavour bring out all the weapons and all the goodies, because he doesn’t want a masked retard to represent RAW. This leads to the program with ROCK who again gets screwed over by the John brothers. Then the next PPV after WM he gets the belt from Punk. This leads to a Summer of Cena and Punk in a battle that culminates in a street fight at Summerslam. Before the fight Foley takes out Laurenitis and then Punk battles Cena in a pure brawl main event eventually beating him with help from Foley to bring calm back to the WWE. From there its open for debate.

yeah, thats a problem, then again

thats the reason i wouldnt turn cena heel any soon, if i was to turn him heel, i would do it when the guy wants to retire or take a vacation, turn him heel, make him go nuts, and then you push one or even two of your babyfaces to saturn by pinning him at Wrestlemania, after that he takes 1 or 2 years off a la jericho and then he can come back fresh and be a babyface again becasue you know how crowds work, if a guy goes away a couple of years, the day they come back they automatically become faces and get cheered like theres no tomorrow

I like the idea of him kicking every ones ass.

but I think the best thing would have the over all intention of using heel Cena as a way to make new stars. Maybe once he gets all the belts, he can take a few guys under his wing and give them the titles he has except his world titles and they would get big pushes.

I don't see WWE as ever actually making Cena a heel

If they did, I would prefer, as has been mentioned around here, a Bret Hart-type heel, who isn’t a bad guy, per se, but is sick and tired of the crowds jeering him for doing the right thing, and yada, yada, yada.

I can't possibly see that backfiring...

Except for, y’know, the continued split-reception.

It doesn't matter what they do with him. John Cena is always going to have that reaction.

If they make him a heel, some of the people who previously booed him will now cheer him (plenty will still boo him, I am sure). Likewise, some of the people that previously cheered for him will now boo him (and plenty will still cheer him).

How to book a heel turn for Cena, hmm...

Unfortunately, I think the ship has sailed on doing it most optimally, as to book him as close to right as possible, we’d have to rewind time and remove Zack and Eve from the feud. I continue to maintain that for the best effect, Kane should have been attacking Cena’s philosophy until the point comes where the wall falls and Cena is exposed for what he really is. Even (and especially) to the children.

The problem is that monsters, like Kane, generally don’t go the cerebral route, do they? Thus, to do so would require a revamping of Kane as well. One could say that all the years of feuding with his brother Undertaker forced Kane to evolve from a pure brute, forced him to think strategically, to become smarter. I would like to state that this would actually make Kane scarier, and here’s the reason why: uncontrollable monsters are indeed terrifying. But imagine a monster that is fully conscious of its actions, is deliberately sociopathic, and in fact manipulates his victims into being as terrified as is humanly possible. An intelligent monster. A monster that maybe, possibly, might even be able to convince you that he’s been right all along. One that can rip your heart out figuratively AND literally.

Instead, what we have is your typical “he who fights monsters” scenario. Not boring per se, but certainly one we’ve seen more times than the above alternative.

Time to spread a little chaos...

The thing is...

The kiddies love Cena way too much and I feel like they will cheer him no matter what he does.
Take out Ryder, “well, Ryder was played out anyways”.
Put a chair on the Rock, “Well, Rock was talking so much smack he deserved it.”

I just honestly don’t see a way to turn Cena heel. Which makes the NWO Hogan heel turn just so much more impressive.

F it. Have Kane start drinking blood and spewing it in other people’s faces. Cena and Christian both join him and start the Brood 2.

yeah, but you have to ask yourself

if you need the kids to hate cena in order to make him a credible heel, i can see him as a succesful heel even with the kids loving him

by chaggo on Jan 19, 2012 6:35 PM EST up reply actions

but to successfully make a superstar turn heel (a la Hogan)

you gotta have a shot of a kid in the crowd crying. YOU GOTTA!

Bizarro Cena

Black jean shorts, black hair, hait turned backwards.

Teams up with the Miz, out of all people, and continues the rejects mantra – cheat. cheat again. and cheat some more. The only way to get under the skin of the fans is to win they way they hate the worst – cheat.

Secondly - please don't bring Corporate Cena in to the fold, ala Austin.

That gimmick died a quick death, IIRC.

Corporate Rock worked though

HHH kind of made it work as well.

I think Cena could pull off being the Corporate Champion, and that would actually bring back some juice to Punk’s anti-establishment persona.
