TNA results from Impact Wrestling show on Sept. 8 in Huntsville

Photo via Impact Wrestling

Despite the fact that this was a taped show and spoilers were readily available online beforehand, here are the quick results from last night's (Sept. 8) show in Huntsville, Alabama:

  • Mr. Anderson opened the show with a particularly goofy promo setting up a match later in the night against Kurt Angle for the TNA heavyweight title. The best part? He brought in Sting because, and these are his words, he "watches the show and knows there would be a run-in." He really said that.
  • The Pope and Devon def. The British Invasion to become number one contenders to the tag team championships. Mexican America was on commentary in an attempt to set up the pay-per-view match but it was just horrific.
  • Eddie Alvarez showed up for some cross promotion with Bellator on MTV2. That move to Spike is coming, folks.
  • Promo segment with Bully Ray, Beer Money and Gunner putting over their matches at No Surrender in the Bound for Glory series. It actually wasn't the worst segment and they did well to get some actual hype going. Unfortunately, we know where this ends up.
  • Eric Young def. Robbie E to retain the television championship. Rob Terry continued his feud with Young after the match by coming out to hit a powerbomb.
  • Jerry Lynn and Rob Van Dam backstage segment continued their issues, as little as anyone wants them to.
  • Mr. Anderson def. Kurt Angle via disqualification. A decent match until TNA went its usual route and overbooked the crap out of it with a run-in from Immortal. Hey, can't say Anderson didn't warn us.
  • Winter and Angelina Love def. Mickie James and Velvet Sky. The red mist gimmick Winter is using is just ... yeah.
  • Austin Aries and Brian Kendrick promo segment to set up their match at No Surrender for the X Division title, which was actually highly entertaining.
  • Backstage segment between Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff reveals that the Network was retaliating against Immortal by setting up Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson vs. Sting as the main event at No Surrender.
  • Gunner def. Bully Ray, James Storm and Bobby Roode in a four corners tornado match. Samoa Joe and Matt Morgan came out to continue their feud. The ensuing match was mediocre at best and entirely too short.
  • They closed the show with Jeff Hardy's return promo, which was one of the worst bits of contrived television I've ever had the displeasure of watching. He tried his best to make himself cry and failed miserably. It sounded like TNA piped in heat and it still came off cheesy and scripted. He apologized for his match at Victory Road and said he hit rock bottom and he can't ask for forgiveness; all he can do is ask for another chance. They literally ended the show with this on the same day Hardy was sentenced to jail time for his drug case. Unbelievable.

Typical overbooked affair when it comes to TNA with far too many backstage segments and the entire bloated roster making its way on TV in some form or another, even to the detriment of the show. Was very difficult not to change the channel. And the fact that they ended the show with Hardy's speech just astounds me. Par for the course for TNA, but still.

I wish

someone would kick Jeff Jarrett’s ass for giving that horse-faced whore he calls a wife a more prominent role on tv. I’ve said this elsewhere, and it bears repeating: if I wanted to see a talking horse, I would watch Mr. Ed, or any of Julia Roberts’ or Sarah Jessica Parker’s movies. At least Karen had less on-screen time this week, than last week. No tv time for her at all would still be best, as far as I’m concerned.

I think Karen's pretty damn hot

he’s a pretty good heel and I don’t have an issue with her being on tv. Now Hogan and Bischoff are both useless characters and have brought in no new viewers. I wish Dixie would buy a clue and fire Hogan-Russo-Bischoff and bring in Heyman. The talent is there but the booking blows.

I can agree with you on Hogan, Bischoff, and Russo.

I don’t think they’re going anywhere, though, especially Russo.
Dixie has a thing for Vince, because she basically chose him over Heyman.
Heyman would have kicked Russo’s sorry ass out in the cold, right off the bat, and Dixie knew it.
Her choice in the matter brought me to the logical conclusions that either
a) Russo is a Grade A ass-kisser, or
b) they’re bumping uglies.
In the end, I chose
c) both a & b.

Yeah I've started to think that Russo and Dixie's

relationship has gone the way of HHH-Stephanie’s relationship went a dozen or so years ago.
