On this date in WCW history: Goldberg improves to 145-0 by squashing Chris Kanyon

On September 24, 1998, Goldberg appeared on WCW Thunder to squash Chris Kanyon and improve his professional wrestling record to 145-0.

Who's better than Kanyon? Well, duh.

Raven's ringside commentary is probably the most entertaining part of this entire match, which is only a few seconds long.

Any Cagesiders out there who were sick of Goldberg and "the streak" by this point? Or were you still marking out for his dominant reign?

and marking out like hell. I stood in line waiting for his autograph for six hours at Georgia Square Mall that year.

Yup. I was in the 5th grade then...

and we all looked at Goldberg like he was Superman. Whenever someone had a great game at kickball during recess we would call it “Goldberging” because you looked unstoppable.

If Derek Jeter clubbed a baby seal on earth day while wearing a mink coat and crocodile skin boots while burning tires on an iceberg, the reaction would be "Its OK Derek, you’re a Yankee." -First mammal to wear pants

I damn near cried when Nash "beat" him.

Goldberg was the John Cena/Hulk Hogan of WCW.

Foggy memory due to age but I think he could exceed 100+ winning streaks in a row and the stadium would still erupt like hell in cheers. No one else could ever do this.

I still can't believe they blew it with this guy

I would have never ended the streak until someone better came along or when the fans turned on him . . . THIS guy was how you ended the nWo angle and then rebrand those guys. The crowds were molten for him, it didn’t matter how good he was in the ring.

Easiest proof of how dumb WCW could be

Was how they botched Goldberg. Even with the ridiculous padding of the streak — why in the hell did they need to BS people with 145-0? People figured out how bogus the number was so easily…just say he’s 90-0 or whatever and he’s still a dominant beast that is destroying people.

But WCW thrived on ruining good things it seemed.

For me, the best thing about the Goldberg streak was the break it gave in between Hulk Hogan/nWo segments. It was just refreshing to see something new in WCW…. regardless of how ridiculous it was.

Why they ever let him say anything other than "Who's Next????" is beyond me.

Terrible on the mic. Just terrible.
