Video: Mike Bennett and Eddie Edwards answers the conundrum "What is Ring of Honor Wrestling?"

If you weren't already a fan of Ring of Honor Wrestling, would this Sinclair Broadcasting advertisement sell you on the product?  Or would you failed to be grabbed by the distinct lack of charisma shown by Bennett and Edwards?  I thought Bennett was being sarcastic when he dryly uttered "and more importantly you have me the entertainer of the whole company".  It also should be noted that this is remarkably similar to HDNet's failed advertisement campaign for their ROH TV show on Monday nights at 8pm, whereby they emphasised the athletic in ring action above all else.

What does charisma have to do with this? They are explaining what the product is which differs from just cutting a promo. Anyone that’s seen the show knows Edwards can do so but I haven’t watched enough of Bennett to really know what all he can do. I know he’s pretty good in the ring but that’s besides the point here. Having charisma is something you just have while wrestlers do promos when they involved in a program with another. It’s not they are facing someone and have to come up with something to sound good, they are just explaining what you would to expect if you watch them. It’s not like they hired someone to do a voice over to make it sound like they are the best company in the world, they are simply making a suggestion and giving insight on what to expect. Charisma has nothing to do with this. Edwards maybe speaking kinda slow but they could’ve done this at any time and someone could’ve just been like hey, say some good things about ROH so people can watch without giving any preparation. Have you ever had to come up with something good about a company you’re representing right then and there. It sure as hell beats what TNA is trying to do with putting those “why wrestling matters” videos. Besides, have you listened to Orton talk? He talks very robotic like at times. But again giving an EXPLANATION on something and having CHARISMA are two different things.

Anyone that’s seen the show dosen’t need to have ROH explained to them.

I’ll tune in because I watch all wrestling shows, but the casual wrestling fan that may be looking for a WWE alternative may not bother.

Hmmm...

From Something Awful’s Punchsport Pagoda (“Fake Fighting and Pro Wrestling”):

Someone came up and polled me earlier on what I think, as a wrestling fan of some packages they showed hyping the new ROH TV show. “Does this make you excited for something different in professional wrestling?”
I told them nope. Because Eddie Edwards, Davey Richards, the O’Riley, and Mike Bennett are not the most interesting people to listen to.
They should have shown promos of El Generico, The Briscoe Brothers, Truth Martini, Kevin fucking Steen.
