Ring of Honor's (ROH) Death Before Dishonor series has a long and storied history in the promotion. A mainstay since 2003, the event has played host to ROH World Championship title matches, hate-filled street fights, and a brutal Cage War which pitted the company against a band of outsiders.
Tomorrow (Sept. 17), Death Before Dishonor IX continues that great tradition with a fantastic card from top to bottom.
Not only will you get to see each member -- Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin -- of ROH World Tag Team Champions Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team in singles action but you'll also catch former Age of the Fall leader Jimmy Jacobs replacing Steve Corino to take on El Generico.
And that's just part of the undercard that serves as the garnish to the delicious meal of the co-main events.
Roderick Strong and Eddie Edwards clash in a Ringmaster Challenge which is a best of three falls match. The first must be won by pinfall, the second by submission, and should be a third be necessary, a 15-minute Iron Man Match will determine the winner.
But it's the main event that is sure to leave the ROH ring mat stained with blood.
The notorious Briscoe Brothers -- Mark and Jay -- take on The All Night Express -- Rhett Titus and Kenny King -- in what will be the company's third Ladder War in almost 10 years.
You can, of course, purchase the internet pay-per-view (iPPV) from GFL.tv by click HERE to watch all the action live tomorrow starting at 7:30 PM ET.
So who should you expect to win? Well, keep reading and find out!
One-On-One Match
El Generico vs. Jimmy Jacobs
Part of me feels that we'll see a Jimmy Jacobs heel turn while another part of me thinks that all of El Generico's concerns will go unfounded and the two will have a good, clean match. What we will get is probably something in the middle.
For those needing a refresher, Jimmy Jacobs is responsible for some of the most heinous acts in ROH history. From his matches with BJ Whitmer to stringing up Jay Briscoe like a slaughtered hog while his blood dripped onto the mat, Jacobs has made his fair share of enemies in the company.
Steve Corino -- another long-time heel -- decided to straighten up and fly right. He decided to "get sober" and discontinue his dastardly ways. And just like any recovering addict, he needed a sponsor. Someone who knew the same depths but was able to overcome them. He needed Jimmy Jacobs.
Once a pariah in ROH, Jacobs was cautiously welcomed back into the fold. But when the match between Corino and El Generico was signed, "The King of Old School" felt it was too soon for his newfound sobriety and a relapse would surely be in order if he stepped inside the ring. So Jacobs is taking his place.
I think El Generico goes over after Jacobs gets a little too violent for his own tastes and leaves the ring, disgusted by what he has done. It's too soon for the turn but you can't keep Jacobs as a good guy for too long because he's just so damn good at being hated.
Three Way Elimination Match
The Young Bucks vs. Future Shock vs. The Bravados
This match will be a lot of fun. Three young tag teams with penchants for high-flying and double team maneuvers are sure to provide some highlight reel moments. In fact, this match should open the show to get the crowd nice and hot.
The Young Bucks recently had a try-out with the WWE but with all the "you didn't shake this guy's hand" drama that exploded on Twitter afterwards, I wouldn't be too sure if you'll see the guys signed any time soon. But still, the risk of them leaving is there so I wouldn't expect them to go over unless they're committed to ROH long-term.
Which leaves the winner to be either Future Shock or The Bravados. It's really a toss up as both teams are young and a loss either way wouldn't hurt all too much.
Grudge Tag Team Match
Jay Lethal & Homicide vs. Tommaso Ciampa & Rhino with The Embassy
Homicide makes his return to ROH after being Gored through a table by Rhino at Best in the World. He'll be looking to exact a measure of revenge against the former ECW champ and I think this bloodlust will get the better of the "Notorious 187."
I expect an arena-wide brawl between him and Rhino leaving Lethal alone against powerhouse Ciampa along with Embassy leader Prince Nana and possible mouthpiece R.D. Evans. Lethal will get brutalized and pinned before Homicide is able to get back to the ring.
Post-match, the former "Black Machismo" will take Homicide to task for leaving him alone, something the one-time ROH World champ won't take kindly to. A second beatdown for Lethal will commence and the two will begin to feud over a certain possession of Lethal's you may or may not know he has.
Special Challenge Match #1
Shelton Benjamin vs. "The Prodigy" Mike Bennett with Brutal Bob
Not a whole lot of storyline going on in this match. It'll essentially be a showcase for both athletes but especially Benjamin who will come out on top.
Special Challenge Match #2
Charlie Haas vs. Michal Elgin with Truth Martini
If ROH is hoping to create new challengers for the tag champs, one of these guys has to falter tomorrow. With Truth Martini in Elgin's corner, I expect Benjamin to be the victim of some managerial shenanigans which lead him to losing the bout.
This could lead to Elgin and House of Truth stablemate Roderick Strong making a claim to a tag team title shot, something "The Canadian Crazy House" said he would be open to in an exlusive interview with CSS earlier this week.
The "Ringmaster Challenge"- 2/3 Falls Match
Eddie Edwards vs. Roderick Strong with Truth Martini
* First fall is pinfall only. Second fall is submissions only. If necessary, the third fall is a 15 minute Iron Man Match.
As mentioned in my prediction for Haas/Elgin, I expect the House of Truth to start making noise in the tag team division which doesn't leave a whole lot of time for Strong to challenge for the World Championship held by former ally Davey Richards.
An Edwards win here could lead to him challenging for the title he lost to his American Wolves partner back at Best in the World in June. What was once one of the most dominant tag teams on the scene would be ripped apart as the two wrestlers compete over ROH's greatest prize.
Their match in June was fantastic so it should be dead to rights that a full-blown feud between the two will be awesome and exactly what Sinclair and ROH need and want going into their new TV deal.
Ladder War III
Jay and Mark Briscoe vs. The All Night Express
*A contract for a Tag Team Title shot at "Glory By Honor X" hangs above the ring
Oh, this should be fun. The Briscoes were, of course, involved in the original Ladder War at Man Up, the same event where The Age of the Fall made their debut. It was a brutal affair that saw them overcome challengers Kevin Steen and El Generico.
I expect this match to be no less intense.
Unlike the WWE, ROH isn't afraid to show some color when the situation presents itself. A Ladder War is as good an excuse as any to get the boys busted open and bleeding.
As for my prediction, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict an All Night Express (ANX) victory tomorrow night. Why? Well, simply because Mark and Jay have reached the point in ROH where they don't NEED the belts. They're insanely over and will remain over, champs or not.
A team like ANX could use the rub that a tag team title match would give and a showdown with Haas and Benjamin on November 19 in Chicago would be a lot of fun to watch.
Oh, and there's also the little matter of Kevin Steen claiming he's going to show up. Hot damn!
There you have it, Cagesiders. What do you guys think? Am I on point or an idiot?
