In the opening segment of the show tonight (Aug. 29) on Raw, Triple H announced that for now and the foreseeable future superstars from both Raw and Smackdown would be competing on the same shows going forward.
This caused confusion, of course, as it wasn't clear if he was saying so simply to set up the live Smackdown supershow tomorrow night that has been getting heavy promotion.
However, the WWE website seems to clear up some of the confusion with its lead story saying "The SuperShow Era Begins." The synopsis says:
In a clear preview of the inter-brand action to be expected in coming weeks in the all-new Raw SuperShow, nemeses-turned-tag partners John Cena & Sheamus clashed with Mark Heny & Christian in Raw's main event.
Apparently that answers that.
Michael Cole, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler dropped the ball big time if this is sincerely the case because they failed massively to put this over during the broadcast. In fact, Cole hinted at it being a one-time thing, enough so to create a great deal of confusion regarding the whole issue.
If this sticks, and I hope it does, it means they've finally decided to do away with the brand split and by extension the annual WWE draft. Good riddance, I say. What say you?
