Impact Spoilers - Fans mark out for Jeff Hardy's TNA return
Well, TNA management really did it! Yes, they followed through on their original plans and Jeff Hardy did indeed return to TNA action at their Impact tapings last night in Huntsville, Alabama. The fact that his brother Matt was lying in a hospital bed, after a drug fuelled psychosis where he trashed his home, published a bizarre YouTube video claiming that ghosts were to blame, and fell down the stairs, didn't make them think twice, even though Jeff and the wrestling business as a whole would be much better served if he stayed at home and looked after his disturbed brother. Detailed spoilers, including a fan video of his return appearance, can be found after the jump.
Jeff Hardy's return proved the old adage that an established wrestling star will always get a big pop for his return, no matter the reasons for his departure. He can even get away with doing the ultimate no no, appearing intoxicated on camera and aborting a PPV main event, and still be welcome back by the promotion and the fans with no questions asked. No need to go to rehab or even pass a drug test, just wheel him out, let him cut a scripted babyface interview and he'll be greeted with positive chants. That's exactly what happened last night, as Jeff delivered a sympathetic "shoot" promo that really didn't explain his past actions for casual fans. He started off his segment by saying he didn't deserve the fans' cheers and thanked them for their support. He admitted to being "messed up", "letting everybody down" and "hitting rock bottom" at Victory Road. He went on to say he can't expect anyone to forgive him for his actions; all he could do is ask for "one more shot". It would have been much more believable if these words hadn't been carefully scripted for him by Vince Russo and he had voiced these thoughts himself of his own volition much earlier. Of course, expecting him to piss clean would be a step too far!

A rare oversight on your part Keith is that this show airs the same day he is scheduled for court in his ongoing drug trafficking case in North Carolina.
Good catch, that’s what the comments section are partially for! :-)

Unacceptable
Way to show the boys that nobody’s bigger than the company. Way to show off that lack of backbone. Way to show there are backyard federations that are run more intelligently.
The Hardys’ health isn’t TNAs problem. Having half your PPV main event show up too looped to perform is. “One More Chance” indeed; how many last chances is this now?
My fellow Americans, I have not been entirely truthful with you. I did gagoogidy that girl. I gashmoygadied her gaflavity with my googus. And I am sorry.

Yeah, I think that’s what Jeremy Borash was doing before he came out.

The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.
I’m always keen on forgiving people. I’m sure there are others that would disagree but lets face it, there are more than enough wrestlers and even fans/people in general that have their own personal demons to deal with and yes Jeff should be staying home to look after his brother but at the same time, TNA should have enough balls to make him do so. I have to say there could be a chance that we still might not see Jeff in an actual match till the whole court case which has been pretty much been blown off for months now come to a close. Maybe this is just a way to have Jeff say look, I fucked up and I know but I will try to do better. How many times has anyone been like that. We’re not perfect. Sure it may come off as a little corny and maybe even a little late but that again is a matter of opinion. This also could be a way for Jeff to say don’t forget me if I do leave. You could come up with you’re own analogy of what was going on when he cut this promo. While doing people should know that life is to short to hold grudges know matter how messed it was. Anyone watch the HBK dvd when he was just as bad on pills. Of course you’d never know it because it didn’t go as far to what Jeff did but it all can’t be blamed on Jeff. TNA should have said look, we can’t let you go out there and have a replacement on hand. It would’ve been shitty to not have what you advertised as the main event but look what it cost both parties. They lost some of their audience and even there were are still those that don’t know the meaning of letting things go. Which is why it’s called the past. I’m not going to be a hypocrite and say I wasn’t one of those people that weren’t highly pissed and wasn’t looking at forgiving Jeff for what he did but as time goes on, I learn that Jeff is a person just like myself and I fucked up plenty where I shouldn’t be given a chance but do to the good graces of the LORD, that’s right I do believe in GOD, I’m still here. So before anyone starts pointing figures and wants to judge someone, you should save your judgement for yourself. Only one being can do that and though I tend to do so at times, everyone will have a final judgement.

What does that have to do with the actual problem?
He wasn’t on TV for so long, and wasn’t used by them for so long, because of his alcohol/drug problems, and his refusal to actually address them. As far as we know- and, given that we know behind the scenes information like the fact that they wanted him to go, we would of heard that he did go, if he did- he refused TNA’s strong recommendations to enter into rehab. The lines were drawn, and it was a stand off- either he cleans himself up, or he doesn’t get used. TNA backed off their demand, for whatever business purposes, and basically let him win. Jeff Hardy’s alcohol/drug issues are bad, sure, but the problem is that TNA is acting like an enabler, acquiescing to his not wanting to sober up, and basically looking the other way. That’s bad for business, and bad for Jeff Hardy himself.
