Matt Hardy arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI), released from TNA

Matt-hardy-defeated-jeff-hardy_medium

Guess who got arrested for issues with drug abuse?

Surprise! It's none other than Matt Hardy, who was busted today in North Carolina for driving while intoxicated. TMZ has the story:

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a trooper discovered Hardy after his 2009 Corvette ran off the road and struck a tree. Hardy was by himself at the time and did not suffer any injuries.

The trooper observed signs of impairment and arrested Hardy. He was charged with DWI and the trooper found no other contraband in the vehicle. Hardy submitted to a blood test, the results are pending.

Hardy, who was suspended by TNA in June for a bizarre video of his brother tasering his girlfriend and repeated tardiness to shows, has a long history of drug abuse and creating problems whereever he's been. His prolonged absence from TNA apparently stems from his refusal to go to drug rehabilitation, along with his brother Jeff.

So I suppose it was only a matter of time before something like this happened to shed even more light on the fact that Hardy is still a train wreck with far too many problems for any promotion to take on right now, even TNA.

And that's saying something.

UPDATE: TMZ is now reporting that Hardy has been released from TNA following this incident with a rep from the company reportedly saying:

"TNA today released Impact Wrestling star Matt Hardy from its roster. Hardy was already under suspension from the company."

There was a lot of speculation that he wanted his release anyway and it looks like TNA has finally given it to him after letting him sit on the sidelines for a few months.

The guy is becoming such a joke now. I can’t believe at one point in his career I actually supported him. That was back when he got canned by WWE because he was expendable, while Edge and Lita were making WWE money.

And yet he denies he/they need counseling

Shame he didn’t hit the tree harder.
I expect he’ll headline a TNA PPV within 6 months.

My fellow Americans, I have not been entirely truthful with you. I did gagoogidy that girl. I gashmoygadied her gaflavity with my googus. And I am sorry.

TMZ reports he's been released

Matt Hardy’s arrest today in North Carolina has had immediate repercussions — he’s been DROPPED from TNA.

A rep for TNA tells TMZ, “TNA today released Impact Wrestling star Matt Hardy from its roster. Hardy was already under suspension from the company.”

Sucks about the DUI but i’m glad that Matt has finally gotten his release from TNA, that was another wasted signing by them and now he can move on and get away from that mess of a company.

Fade into obscurity

"In fact, most of these free-swinging Padres couldn’t hit Dock’s funky palm ball. I threw it often. But by then, also, the first acid distractions entered: the TV flickered; the cracks in the wall started to move; the hand soap started to breathe — those sorts of things. Plus I was drawn to the outdoor garden between innings. Rain was near, I sensed." - A.J. Daulerio

Matt's got some catching up to do

Jeff’s up on narcotics charges, Matt’s only got a DUI.

wow

Some of the comments Hardy fans are posting on twitter

http://twitter.com/search/%40MattHardyBrand
http://twitter.com/search/%40JeffHardyBrand

and on TNA’s facebook page are kind of frightening. Are people really THAT blind to the Hardy’s problems with drugs?

I'm surprised they released him

So....

If you’ve got more drugs on/in you than the entire cast of Celebrity Rehab and have two, highly visible meltdowns on PPV, and they not only don’t fire you, but give you the title. However, if you’re a drunk, off you go. That’s actually hilarious. It’s either the money invested, or TNA really doesn’t care if you’re a junkie, but does if you’re a drunkie.

I have a feeling that even TNA wasn't so stupid as to not see the pattern with the Hardys after the PPV debacle

For some bizarre reason, Jeff is popular

I suspect with those too young to know better. Matt couldn’t draw a crowd with a box of Crayolas.

Hardy's first comments

Apparently from his youtube channel:

“I took a breathalyzer immediately on the spot and it read clean, zero, nothing. Think about peeps! There’s more to this story than meets the eye. MATTHEW”

Matthew? Is he trying the dual personalities gimmick again even though he’s unemployed?

Obviously the conclusion he doesn’t think anyone will come to is maybe he was under the influence of drugs, and not alcohol. You know. Perhaps he was having a soma party all by himself.

He really ought to quit trying to work the fans with everything he says and get help.
